The next time you are craving for AYCE sushi, consider a new player that recently opened in Duarte, Sushi Fire. It is an outstanding option for three reasons: fresh seafood, exceptional service, and comfortable environment.
The head chef at Sushi Fire is Alan, a former experienced chef from the Vegas MGM hotel. He currently splits time between Sushi Fire and Sake Roll in Glendora. Chef Alan is a master at fusion-style sushi, evident in the unique set of sushi sauces that he personally prepares from scratch and his extensive list of creative rolls.
What features distinguish Sushi Fire from other Japanese fusion AYCE sushi restaurants? It's Chef Alan's meticulous attention to the types of fish he sources with oversea origins, precision in slicing fish uniformly before laying it on a ball of perfectly moist rice, and high standards of artistic presentation. Fish is only sliced to order at Sushi Fire, which is an essential aspect of the sushi experience that many fusion sushi restaurants ignore. I think that the combination of Sushi Fire's strengths is hard to find in LA's fusion sushi restaurants. Customers should pay attention to the quality and fresh ingredients used, and look beyond the term "fish to rice ratio" to appreciate what Sushi Fire has to offer.
The food at Sushi Fire was very similar to my past two visits at Sake Roll. See my previous evaluation on the Sake Roll Yelp page. My favorites today were the naked hamachi that featured a persistent sweet finish, the cajun albacore with a pronounced smoky body and a sweet finish from the sauce, and the salmon that was buttery soft to chew and velvety smooth...
Read moreGreat Japanese food. They have very well done sushi here. When they first opened few years ago, we were amongst the first to patron this place.
The husband and wife team opened this restaurant. I heard that the chef was a sushi chef at a Las Vegas hotel. The wife was very friendly. Every time we went to eat there, she always got something new for us to try. We have been frequenting this restaurant for a long time.
The sushi are very fresh and the fishes they used here are the best quality. I have never been disappointed eating here. I have tried everything with their all you eat menu.
Unfortunately, after covid hit, the restaurant no long offers all you can eat option. But the sushi are still very good and fresh. The only thing is that the prices have gone up quite a bit. A sashimi bowl with rice costs more than $28. With no indoor dining, the outdoor dining option is like the fast food joint with a few chairs to sit after ordering the food. This is not a good dining experience. Maybe we should wait for the the restaurant to reopen for in door dining before going back...
Read moreSushi Fire is a great Sushi restaurant to find in Duarte. 1st off: Don't judge a book by its cover -- however, it is a very small restaurant. There's not usually a wait here, but it can get crowded quickly.
2nd: the sushi IS GOOD QUALITY, but their AYCE (all-you-can-eat) lacks the variety of some other local places.
3rd: the AYCE is significantly more expensive than other places...
4th: the servers are quick and friendly
5th: the sushi chefs are very talented and definitely know how to stage their food.
My biggest flaw for this place is the lack of variety as most of their rolls tend to be the same drenched in different sauces (not always a bad thing). Try this place if you are nearby, but don't go out of your way. It's nice to have a local Sushi restaurant in our little city with...
