Calliari Bakery and Italian Deli Grocery — Restaurant in DuBois

We travel all over the lower 48 and prefer to visit locally owned businesses, and the majority of the time are pleased with the visit. Our visit to Calliari's made us ecstatic! The woman who assisted me was friendly, helpful, and patient (I asked about a number of items I wasn't familiar with). I had gone in for a loaf of bread, which they tout as "the best Italian bread you'll ever have" and although they were out of loaves (it was late afternoon) I was offered a hoagie roll which is the same recipe as a loaf but not as crunchy a crust. I also bought a container of pepper sauce as well as a stick of hot salami. The bread justifies the claim, in fact, I worried that it wouldn't last the trip home. The pepper sauce is very flavorful with a bit of heat and the hot salami is excellent. So glad we heard about Calliari's early in our 10 day stay in the area....

I had never been here before and have a huge weakness for fresh bread. Hubby grew up with his mother shopping here, so we stopped for bread and decided to give their pasta a try. Their lobster ravioli is incredible and I can't recommend it enough!

They have prepared foods that include sandwiches and soup, as well as cheese, frozen pasta, meatballs, their own sauces, local honey and more. You can find gluten-free food. Everything is delicious. I can't believe it took me this long to discover such a treasure!

If you're in the area, you won't be disappointed by anything you find here. I highly recommend stopping by. Even buying a loaf of bread and a bowl of soup will keep you...

Thankful that a man who came in to buy 2 loaves of bread allowed me to buy one since it's his favorite thing there and I asked him what to get as a first time visitor. Thanks for the recommendation!!! It was delicious. Crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. Super flavor! I also bought 3 canoli for $5. Wonderful! Especially the chocolate dipped. Luscious lobster bisque paired well with the bread. Great stuffed olives selected from the new olive bar. Tasty tiramisu. It was a wonderful first time stop there and cannot wait to go back to get a big sub and some pasta or see what the soup of the day is....
