As a Mexican grocery store taco enthusiast, I don’t say this in jest, these are the best tacos I’ve ever had. I had (2) of the pastor and (1) of the lengua. Mhmmmmm! Both were cooked to perfection with a flavor that I’ll tell in detail to my across the hall neighbor in a nursing home someday. They wrap up each taco like a newborn baby leaving the hospital for the very first time. It’s an art of beauty you need to experience for yourself. Lastly, both salsas (green and red) hit all the right spots. I can’t say enough good words. Well done, El Paisano!

400 sqft "grocery store" with kitchen and no dining space. After walking in, host did not acknowledge me until owner ran out to grill me about taking the photos below. Fair prices but, after waiting 10 minutes for 1 burrito with nobody else there, I got burnt meat, little flavor, and overly mild salsas. As an Arizona native, this is no more authentic than Taco Bell and definitely not cleaner.

My partner recently visited this store and bought some items that included tortilllas, later on we found out they tortilla packs were expired!, definitely owners need to be careful with the quality of products they are selling to the customers, not a pleasant experience to share.

Seriously the best burrito and tacos I've ever had. When it comes to authenticity this place has it down. If you're looking for gimmicky tortillas, cheese dips or mounds of guac this place might not be what you're looking for. But if you want a food that is simple, well done and PACKED with flavor El Paisano is the place to go. Do not let the location deceive you, the only thing you should take into account is the "best tacos in town" banner strewn in front of the building. Paired with the flavor explosion is the incredible price. The amount you pay for the amount and quality of food you receive is almost criminal. As someone who has lived in Dubuque all their lives I URGE you to check this place out. You will not regret it, I...

Being a Mexican-American living in Iowa it can be extremely difficult to find the right spices and things I need to make tamales without having to drive to Chicago for them. Also, their tacos al pastor are so good!!! I grew up on homemade Tex-Mex but there food is more authentic Mexican as far as tacos go. While I can make homemade tacos at home using the knowledge that my grandmother taught me sometimes I don't feel like cooking and they help me out when I have a craving for sweet breads and...
