The booths DEFINITELY need 2 B revamped as the seat area is beyond saggy and uncomfortable!! They're just a sad, huge disappointment. We waited for a hostess 2 cone seat us for quite a while. Tried 2 seat ourselves, but literally every booth was sticky and dirty. I guess they didn't have any one 2 clean them?? Finally got seated. Our waitress was sloppy, lackadaisical and inattentive. We ordered rice and Oriental salads. We went 2 fix our plates and get them cooked. The 3 of us got behind a table of 8 men getting together for the start of a guy's night out. So we were waiting up by the cooking table for a good amount of time. Finally get back 2 our table. Still NO pop, no rice or salads. Had to ask her to bring everything yet again. First the pop gets 2 our table. My cherry coke was fine, but my son's Dr. Pepper was totally watered down and my husband ordered Coke but got Diet Coke instead. Then had to replace them both... AND ask for our rice and salads again. Finally got everything. The rice was hard and cold. Plus our bowl of rice...for 3 adults, was palterly full. Didn't even come 2 the top of the rim. Yet I saw an elderly couple come in after us,,and their rice bowl was filled up and mounded up nicely over the top. Our 3 Oriental salads were haphazardly put together and not at all consistent. My son had a huge salad, 3 orange pieces and a ton of Ramen noodles. My salad was much smaller, Ramen pieces I could literally count on one hand and a plethora of cut up orange pieces. My husband got no orange pieces and a decent, ordinary amount of Ramen pieces. Asked for a pepper shaker for our salads as there wasn't one on the table. That too took forever to get. Our waitress brought my husband and son pop refills, but not me...even though I was almost out of pop and both my son and husband had a substantial amount left in their original glasses. The food itself was delicious. But their bowls keep shrinking in size!! The spinach on the buffet left a lot 2 B desired...sad looking and slimy to boot. The guys doing the cooking were doing a fantastic job keeping up with the orders and keeping the line moving and making...
Read moreUsed to love coming here. The food still holds up and is pretty tasty. Most of the staff has changed in the years I have been going here. There's also no music or anything playing in here so it's kind of awkwardly silent. Most recently my wife and I went there for takeout. We had never done it before, when we arrived we asked questions about how it worked. We went to the line with our special bowls and loaded up. The sauce station was pretty filthy and handles very sticky had to wipe our hands down with paper towels while waiting in line. I told the cook who took our food that these were going to be to-go orders, not sure if I had to say anything or not. I was completely ignored by them and received no acknowledgement. Once our food was cooked a different cook put our food on plates and we had to inform him they were to-go and we needed to-go containers and he was very nice about the mistake and corrected it. Then we went back to the bar to get a bag and our rice that we paid for. The bar tender helping us let us stand there for awhile before telling us she would be right with us, then went to go give a couple tables their bills before coming back and slowly putting our rice into bowls and sending us on our way. Spent a little too much time waiting at the bar with a to-go order if you ask me. Not a great experience. Would still consider take ou if I don't have to go in and get my own phone and can just pick it up when ready. Do not see the appeal in dining in...
Read moreOne of my daughters has celiac, so finding places to eat out can be difficult. My family is from central Minnesota and we were visiting our oldest daughter that lives in Dubuque. We didn't know the best celiac friendly places to eat. We were shopping at the mall around lunch time and decided to check and see if HuHot Mongolian Grill was safe for her to eat after we had no luck making calls to nearby restaurants. They were great, super friendly and helpful! Our biggest worry is crossed contamination, but it was not a problem. Only thing that had gluten were their noodles and sauces. They had the gluten noodles separated from the gluten free rice noodles by a tray zucchini noodles. The sauces were clearly markes GF. The cook cleaned part of the grill and closed it off with some spatulas so we could see it was separate. Our waitress kept my daughter stocked with rice also. This might not seem like much to anyone that doesn't deal with gluten allergies, but to my daughter it was a lot. This was to first all you can eat style restaurant that she has been to since see was diagnosed 10yrs ago. We recommend this place! Full disclosure we went during weekday around 1:30pm so they weren't as busy...
