McDonald's — Restaurant in Dubuque

We arrived at this McDonald’s on 07/27/24, wanting to purchase a strawberry shake and a chocolate Sunday with added Oreos.

We drove up to the speakers to order and explained we would be doing two seperate orders. The first order a strawberry shake was completed without a problem. The second order a chocolate sunday, we asked if we could add Oreos and the lady on the microphone replied with a blunt “No” followed by a giggling sound and then her saying that it was actually possible and added the Oreos onto the order.

We drove through to the next window and the man working mumbled the first order total would be $8, we handed over the card and received the receipt only to read we had been charged for a happy meal. We explained to the man that it was not our order and that the first order we would be paying for was the strawberry shake. The man called for his supervisor, a lady who was not wearing a name tag.

The lady said the actual total would be $3, we paid and got the receipt to read that we had now been charged for the chocolate sunday add Oreos. We explained to the lady that we wanted to pay for the strawberry shake with that card and would pay for the chocolate sunday add Oreos with another card. We explained that we would need a refund for both the happy meal and chocolate sunday add Oreos on that card. The lady gave a refund on the happy meal but not on the chocolate sunday add Oreos. When we asked again for a refund on the chocolate sunday add Oreos that was paid for with the wrong card, she replied bluntly “No”. We explained the situation again to which she again replied “No”, we said that we wanted the refund and then we would pay with the correct cards to which the lady standing with her head out the window said “Puta”, which we understand to translate to a curse word. She closed the window, walked away for a few seconds then came back and processed the refund for the chocolate sunday add Oreos. We then paid for the strawberry shake and the chocolate sunday add Oreos with the correct cards and received the food without any further problems.

I did not appreciate the way we were treated and spoken to by this staff member today. As I understand the customers requests should be listened to and the service completed with respect and appropriate language. This process became more complicated due to an error in failing to read the orders back resulting in the wrong orders being paid for by staff, however the customers were blamed and treated...

Restaurant was totally empty, which was fine (it was 6:30pm) but being empty I would have thought it would have been cleaner. The tables were not cleaned and the floor had stuff on it right where you ordered. Staff was nice. Couldn't understand the woman who put our bag on the counter. We had ordered our food for dine in so I wasnt sure if it was ours. I asked if it was ours and someone else said the number. The spanish music playing was a little too loud for the woman to hear me ask her what she said and she was busy singing anyway. They were nice enough but I did feel like I was a Mexican restaurant and not a McDonald's in Dubuque Iowa lol. The food was very good, my burger was ordered without onions and it was correct. My son's burgers were ordered plain and were also correct. And my husband said his daily double was one of the best he had ever eaten. Fries were very hot and grease was clean. Food really was very good. If the store had been clean and they had the Spanish music turned down and someone speaking clearly that handed out the food I would have given a 5. But overall very good and it wasn't dirty enough that I would complain but when the store is empty I would have thought it would have been spotless. Good food outweighs...

YALL DONT GO TO THIS MCDONALD!! Earlier I went to order my child something and mid way of me ordering the person that was taking my order yelled at me through the screen saying “WHATTT ELSE?” And I told them what else it was that I needed to order and b4 I could even say my last order she said “second window” bt I wasn’t even done talking!🙄i went up to the second window like I was told to do and there was two females standing and one of them opened the window and I asked her “WHO WAS TAKING MY ORDER?” Than the female staff told me my total but I wasn’t even asking about it! I asked again “who took my order back there” and the staff said “I DONT KNOW” and I straight up said “why did yall just scream at me back there” and she(staff) didn’t say anything than I told them again “YALL WANTED TO WORK HERE HAVE SOME PATIENCE AND MANNERS BECAUSE YALL CHOSE TO WORK HERE”!!! I hate this McDonald and this wasn’t the first time this had happened to me in this specific McDonald but I was nice enough about it and kept coming here but I swear today was my LAST DAY COMING HERE! I WILL NEVER COME TO THIS...
