Big Apple Bagels — Restaurant in Dubuque

Nice neighborhood option but don't appreciate going there and never knowing what they'll be out of that day.

Every time I go:

"Oh, sorry, we're out of that. Sorry, we're out of that, too. Sorry, we ran out of those an hour ago."

Good prices.

Amount of cream cheese you receive highly variable upon particular employee. I imagine most ppl like a good amount on there. Half of them will give it to you but half will spread on a meager and disappointing amount.

Lines in the morning take an extremely long time to get thru. Even just four groups/ppl ahead of me and I'm 50/50 whether I feel like spending 20 minutes there for a bagel.

Their muffins are crazy good. They taste as good as they look, too. Thry're so good I have to actively not order them ever (maybe once/year) otherwise I'll purchase 4 to get the bulk discount and now I'm fat again. If you don't care about getting fat then these pure fat/sugar muffins are pure joy. They really know what they're doing with muffins.

Their coffee is weak and the specialty drinks they make from it taste watery.

Today was my third or fourth visit at BAB. I absolutely think the food is beyond delicious and the drinks are very good. It always seems to be busy inside whenever I come around, so they must be doing something right. As much as I am satisfied with the food and precuts, I must admit the service is kind of on the 50/50 scale. Don't get me wrong, all the girls are nice and attentive. But when it comes to product knowledge (pricing, name's of bagels or other things) they really don't know..,well any of it. I'm kind of thrown off that whenever I asked about a price of the dog bone or the muffins I got a "I don't know" and she just trailed off and left me standing there. If she was walking away to ask about the prices, she never did come back. Thanks for leaving me ignored. I'm not even sure if its worth...

This review has nothing to do with service, the service is great. I want to point that out. Other than how they process orders, they are nice people and have the best intentions. IF YOUR FROM A BIGGER CITY DONT EXPECT A PROPER BAGEL AND SCHMEAR! I’ve been here twice now (to see if it was just an off day) and what I’ve experienced is some form of circular tough not chewy bread with a hole Moses can walk through with and maybe he had a part in parting the carbs. I just wish somewhere had a proper bagel and schmear but till I return to the land of my people this is what I get I guess I will be making them at...
