Lemon Sweets Bakery & Cafe — Restaurant in Duluth

We ordered the Mango Cake Box but got a Durian Cake Box which had mango instead. As someone who has never tried Durian but only heard of its unique and off-putting smell, this was an unpleasant shock both in taste and smell. At first glance, we didn’t even realize it was the incorrect order because there were mango pieces in it. Since we had already driven away when we tasted it, we did not turn back to get the order corrected, so I am not sure how we would have been taken care of if we had. It was an unfortunate accident but one that greatly impacted our perception of the place as we were the only customers in the bakery when we arrived and when we left so the excuse of being too busy is not valid in this case. The decorations and interior were very colorful and welcoming, but there wasn’t any music playing which is always awkward in a restaurant/bakery/etc especially when it’s just you and the workers. Customer service was also subpar in niceties and in professionalism as the workers were on their phones before we entered (we could see from the windows since they were the only ones inside) and after we placed our orders. When we said thank you upon leaving, we didn’t get a response because the workers were too absorbed in their phones. I always pass by on my way home from work and finally went in today. BEST decision ever. The 2 ladies working there were very nice and answered all my questions. I got a mango lemon tea, taro mochi balls, and their classic tiramisu. When ordering their tea they informed me that they make w/ regular sugar and ice and that they also made it w/ light sugar and ice, but that their drinks aren’t loaded w/ sugar like other places. Which I thought was amazing since I wasn’t wanting a ton of sugar anyway. I ended up getting the tea regular and the 2 aforementioned items. These are some of the best deserts I’ve had in a min. They are not loaded with sugar but have a nice balance of flavors that you can actually enjoy what you’re eating. I’m defiantly coming back again. The place was very cute and again the ladies were so nice....

We first got the mango mochi cakes and taro milk tea. I’ve only had taro made from the mix. I wanted to get a non-caffeinated drink but to my surprise it had black tea and was made with taro chunks. I almost didn’t talk to the manager/owner but she was very accommodating as she also noticed that I was pregnant. For being so accommodating, I gave this dessert place a 5 star and definitely would recommend for its cute and clean interior. Many places owned by Asian owners are not super customer service oriented but I definitely would come back just for her switching out our drink for the mango mango drink. We particularly enjoyed the cheese topping. Mango mochi had real mango chunks and was not super sweet which was not to my personal flavor profile but was appreciated by my husband.
