I'm usually too lazy to write reviews, but in hopes of making you all (you readers) not repeat the same mistake I made, I am writing one currently. Do not dine here. If you have to eat here, do a take out. If you see waiters name Jeong-Yun (or Hyun) or Eun-Joo RUN. I will provide more details later in the paragraph, but they will yell at you, ignore you, and talk bad behind your back if they feel even the slightest inconvenience (like asking for side dishes). It's unfortunate that this statement isn't exaggerated.
I want to be as critical as possible so I will admit that the food was actually good. However, no food is good when you have to eat being stressed, and nervous.
My family and I have went to this restaurant at a late hour to celebrate my birthday. We were placed in a secluded room - which I though was great. Nice and quiet. However, it was hard for the waiter to travel (As well as it was difficult for us to notify her). So, in hopes of unloading the inconvenience of both us and the waiter, we have asked the waiter to bring side dishes with a bit more quantity. For reference, we were a party of 5 and one set of side dishes were provided. However, she seemed very annoyed when we asked her.
So, we have kindly asked her that she didn't have to bring out side - dishes if it is too difficult for some reason. In response to that, she murmured some word in Korean, then left the room ignoring everyone in the table. At this point in time, the mood wasn't great, but manageable, we all wanted to keep this happy feeling of celebrating. However, all went down the drain when she started talking behind our backs, in front of kids.
Calling us names is not ok. More so, when asked for a simple request for a side dish. When I've went out to confront her, she started yelling at me stating that we shouldn't ask for more side dish when we haven't finished all the side dish. Which I agree. However, like I mentioned earlier, I've explained to her that it was for her convenience, and have explicitly stated that we will pay if we have left overs. However, none of the logic mattered for her (waiter Jeongyun and later on with waiter Eun Joo). She continued to raise her voice and pushed me away. So I've softly told the other waiter (Eun Joo) of our situation, and our inconveniences. I was flabbergasted by her response as she stated that, "Why is that any of my concern? It's your problem, not mine. Don't explain it to me, and stop annoying the customers. Think about what you did". Word for word, that is what she said.
Sure, they might have had a bad day. However, that doesn't justify their actions. Customers are not emotional garbage bags that they can rage on. I didn't want to make more of a fuss, and clearly, they did not want to have a calm, logical discussion. So I have packed to-go, and left the store after paying for a horrible experience.
There is always two side to a story, and I really hope the owner carefully assess my review, and compare my story to theirs. I will say one thing. Considering that there are many reviews about horrible service, I really hope you take some action. My grandparents enjoys the food here, and I enjoy the food here. However, we will not be going back after this traumatic experience. I hope modifications are made.
Also, I see the owner making comments. If you really are reading this, please respond in...
Read moreThe food was pretty good. I enjoyed my spicy seafood tofu soup. My pancake was huge and tasted okay. My kids father enjoyed his short ribs as well. The only concern I have is the customer service. Which is huge in food service! It’s terrible. This place is 24 hours I live right up the road and never got to try it. We came at close to 4am. Nobody was really in there however our waitress kept disappearing for large amounts of times. We didn’t really want to use the buzzard but at some point we had too and it was still ignored. She walked past us a few times As we were trying to flag her down and she acted like she didn’t see us although looking right at us. She also had got our order wrong. He wanted bean paste soup she gave him the spicy as well when we told her it was the wrong soup she rudely grabbed his spoon and started fishing through our soups to ensure it was the correct soup. You could tell by looking at it that it was not the bean paste soup but we decided to keep it due to not wanting to cause a hassle. It took her forever to initially take our order. We had questions about the menu and she kept walking away so we sat for at least 35 minutes before she took our order. The food came out pretty quickly however when we finally told her we were ready to go we waited an additional 30 minutes just for our bill and to go boxes. She never asked for refills on water or if we wanted any other type of drink and we asked for straws multiple times. We are typically big tippers but she had such a bad attitude and wasn’t attentive for our bill to be close to $100 When the bill finally came we didn’t tip her the way she wanted and she just stood there looking at us bag our food and the paper and made a noise and walked off. No have a good night or anything. The audacity to think you’re getting a decent tip when you’ve disrespected us all night. Some people were coming in to pick up orders and I didn’t really see her treating them like that. I don’t want to make it a race thing but it seemed like everybody got a little bit better treatment than the people who were going to pay her. It wasn’t really busy and they sat us away from the few people that were there. We were often forgotten about.
Also very overpriced for small portions. I won’t be back. There are cheaper Korean bbq places in the area with...
Read moreI don't normally give 1 star reviews but the treatment I got at the end of my night warrants it.
I want to start off by saying the food was not bad here. It wasn't the best K-BBQ but it certainly wasn't the worst.
First off, the price is expensive with misleading portions. I ordered pork belly from the BBQ menu. The picture on the menu showed 8 pieces, but I only got 4. For $30, I expected more and the menu to match. Also ordered marinated chicken that was half the portion size on the menu as well. Ordered fried rice too for $14 which was a good portion size but lacked flavor. Didn't help that I asked for more Kimchi several times and was never given it. Our water was also not refilled throughout the night despite asking for it to be.
But now to what ruined the night for me. After all I ordered, the bill was $80. Fine, expensive but it is what I ordered. I gave $95, so a $15 tip, which I thought was a fair tip, and it was all the cash I had on me. Waitress took the cash before we even left the table. As we were walking out, she stops us and ask "where is the rest?" Rest of what, I paid in full and gave a tip. She looks confused and says it isn't enough. Excuse me? She made it seem like I just tried to skip out on the bill, which was embarrassing. Told her I paid and left.
I've never gone somewhere, left a tip, and was actually told it wasn't enough by someone. Especially when the portion sizes were wrong based on the menu and our waitress was sitting behind us the entire night having her own separate meal while also serving us. No, this is not acceptable. Go somewhere else that doesn't have the audacity to do this. Try Iron Age or 678 instead, which has all you can eat BBQ for less.
EDIT: For those that read the owners response saying they never received a similar complaint, that isn't true. Read their other negative reviews, this is not uncommon at this restaurant. Again, go elsewhere, there are better, cheaper and all you can eat options...
