To begin this review, I am a repeat customer who lives within a few miles of this bakery. I visit at least 2-3 times per week to get some work done. On almost every visit I usually grab a larger cup along with my ordered beverage as opposed to using the small cups set up next to the water stand. The larger cup in my opinion is ideal because I won't have to stand up over and over to refill my water. Anyways, today was the first time an employee told me that there is an additional 50 cent charge for the larger cups to use for water. The employee reached out with his hand for the cup and I returned it. I wouldn't have been as irritated if he had let it go with a polite warning in which I would not have taken the large cup in the future, but the whole situation to me is simply absurd. When you go to Starbucks, are you charged a large water cup fee? No. When you go to Chick-Fil-A, are you charged such a fee? No. Even at some of the local bubble tea shops they do not give a repeat customer such an issue. This is "nickel-and-diming" to its greatest extent.
Besides this bizarre experience, the food and coffee is mediocre at best. The chicken pomodoro sandwich literally tastes like a microwaved chicken patty with pasta sauce over it and between bread. The baked goods like the red bean bun was not tasty either. I ate half of it and could not stomach eating the rest. The lavender coffee and iced blends were not too bad.
The only thing this place really has going is the overall atmosphere. They do a decent job of keeping the cafe and restrooms clean. On that aspect, you can't complain. However, after this "nickel-and-diming" experience today, I will NEVER be returning my business here. Is a 10 cent water cup really worth losing a loyal, repeat customer? In my...
Read more#vegetarian. I stopped by The White Windmill Bakery & Cafe for lunch and was impressed by the space—but the food fell a little short.
I ordered the Avocado Open Face Sandwich, which looks fancy, but be aware—it’s very bland. It came as a toasted slice of multigrain bread topped with cold, chunky avocado, cold sliced boiled egg, and a sprinkle of arugula. Despite the beautiful presentation, there was no seasoning and no cream cheese, as some descriptions suggest. Just plain and simple.
On the bright side, the fruit cup that came with it—fresh strawberries, blueberries, and green grapes—was delicious and refreshing.
One heads-up: while Yelp lists the sandwich at $10.99, the in-store price was $13.99 ($14.80 with tax). That’s a noticeable difference.
The café itself is beautiful—lots of natural light, plenty of seating, and a clean, peaceful environment inside and out. The restrooms were clean, and there’s also a nice outdoor area to enjoy.
WiFi was the biggest downside—it wasn’t working at all, which cut my visit short since I needed internet access.
All in all, a gorgeous place to relax, but if you're coming for flavor, you may want to try a different menu item.

Read moreTheir birthday cakes have no price tags.
(I did not take a photo. But you can see other reviewers’ photos in google map)
Why I gave one star? I asked the staff the price of a specific cake. My finger is pointed to the cake I wanted. I was ready to buy. She does not tell the exact price of that cake. Instead she told me from thirty something to forty something. So their cakes have market prices? The staff does not even bother to tell me which one is in thirty dollars range and which one is in forty dollars range. I guess she did not expect I will buy one. Maybe forty dollars range is bigger? She does not tell me. I just know I pointed my finger to a specific cake. Would it be easier to put the price tag there?
I ate their cakes before. It is just okay. Definitely not the best in Atlanta. I know their stuffs are expensive. I know cakes are expensive. I just don’t like the way they treat customers.
