Crab Rotgoons
My roommate and I ordered delivery for dinner tonight. Everything was hot and fresh and delicious and my roommate mentioned that the cream cheese in his crab rangoons tasted funny. I had not gotten to mine yet, which I am glad I didn't eat them first like I usually do because, I took one bite and had to rush to the bathroom. I do not have a weak stomach but curdled milk or soured cream cheese as it were, that will always, and did, make me violently ill. I have worked in the food service industry for long enough that, upon inspecting the soured wonton, I deduced that they had been prepared a day or two in advance. You can always tell when an egg roll shell with filling has been refrigerated, and kept at room temp and then refrigerated again because when you attempt to fry them, the wonton wrapper (already saturated with the liquid from the filling) stays greasy and won't crisp up. The chef clearly did not check to see if they were soured, nor did he care to take note of the unappealing greasy finished product. Unfortunately, the woman who answered the phone did not seem to care about the issue either. When I called the restaurant to tell them about this, and to warn them of the potential danger to people vis'a'vie food poisoning, the woman said, "cream cheese just tastes sour." I calmly explained to her that I have had their crab rangoons many times(and love them), and it doesn't take a chef to know when a dairy product has gone bad. She kept repeating herself insisting that that is just the way that they taste. I can walk to this restaurant in 20 minutes, we eat there and frequently order delivery and both of us have gotten an order of crab rangoons a piece, each and every single time for the past 5 years, and somehow all of the sudden their usually perfect crab rangoons have developed a "sour" taste? The woman(getting increasingly more defensive by the second) insisted if we didn't like them, we could bring them back to her for a refund. I explained that this was a delivery order and I do not drive, to which she responded she would have the driver come by sometime between tonight and tomorrow or the next day and that we had to be here to give him the rotten crab rangoons. At this point I had had quite enough of this woman's attitude and generally apathetic approach to a serious issue. I explained that I will be reporting this to the health department and will be happy to give them the rot-goons. She finally stated she would refund them and hung up on me. Sadly, I have to say I will never eat at or order from this restaurant again. Furthermore, I highly advise anyone who orders any fried filled product from this restaurant to check it before eating it, because clearly they don't care if they...
Read moreFood is pretty ok. The spicy beef didn’t have a whole lot of beef and was basically a lot of carrots the pork and shrimp eggroll was best part of the meal. But that’s not the bad part of the experience because I’m sure the cooks do a good job. The lady at the register was extremely unpleasant. When I came in to get my online order. They had 12 five gallon buckets of soy sauce and a bunch of box’s, looked like a delivery had came. I’m in the food business so it struck me as interesting they had that amount of soy. There was a gentleman mopping next me and I asked him how long it took to go through that many gallons of soy. The lady at the register interrupted me and snapped and told me not to talk to him and said some other stuff in a real hateful tone I couldn't understand due to accent. I stopped and was shocked that she was that hateful. I tried to smile and tell her I had just worked 12 hours and was just trying to be positive and chat. She then interrupted and got rude again asking my name and then asking for a number. She then snagged my bag and through it on the counter. I took it and I was baffled, it’s the second and last time I will go there. Do yourself a favor and hit Main Tin in South Charleston. The service is great and the food is just as good if not better. No room for that kind of attitude in the food service, especially if you’re not all that great and when you charge $30 for a spicy beef, egg roll and hot and sour soup. I don’t usually like doing negative...
Read moreIf you order food out of restaurant it's great. But everytime my cousin comes in for buffet she looks at her and says "we no chicken wing, no chicken wing" my cousin don't eat the chicken wings! So we joke out loud about "no chicken wing" everytime we go. But there is always like 3 or 4 on the buffet when we get there. My cousin loves the crab ragoons mainly what we go there for. I love them too. So we got all that was on the bar when we got there (3 each) she waits for more to come up then takes 6 out of the 10 on the bar (once again 3 each) well we wait over 30 mins and she don't put anymore up. Finally my cousin loudly says we can leave soon as there is more crab ragoons up. The lady that runs the place is watching the cameras sitting at the table (like we gonna steal food... They also kept walking by our table and kept wiping tables that no one ate near us since we was the only ones there the whole time) then you hear her yell something loud in Chinese 2 secs later I kid you not 4 more ragoons was put on the bar! They looked like they was made a while ago but was set under a light. ..... I thought the food was all you can eat.... Not what we want to let you have....... I will no longer deal with that...
