Planet Chicken — Restaurant in Dunellen

I have driven many times past Plant Chicken and I always noticed how busy the foot traffic was for the restaurant. After over 25 years, I finally asked my wife if she would like to try Planet Chicken and she agreed after reviewing their menu. Planet Chicken is simple, casual, and cozy eatery with delicious comfort food. It is a refreshing change from the chains! They offer warm, friendly, and fast customer service. Upon entering the establishment, we were immediately greeted by a very friendly host/server, Jesus who quickly seated us. He was very pleasant, professional, friendly and very attentive. He immediately brought out our our beverages- a bottle of Chica Limena Passion Fruit Drink and a can of Coke... both with no ice. Jesus had a welcoming demeanor and genuine friendly smile. Jesus was SPECTACULAR and his customer service skills were OUTSTANDING! In short, he really made for a great dinner experience!

For an entree, my wife had Bistec a lo Probe and I had the Chaufa Mixto. Everything was absolutely delicious and both meals were prepared, portioned, and cooked to perfection. Their spicy green sauce is the bomb and I could not help putting small portions on everything that I ate. We generally do not eat fries but their spicy green sauce made them taste so good! We usually DO NOT order dessert but the food was so delicious that we tried the Tres Leches which was not too sweet like most cakes, it was perfect. We inquired what most of the regulars were drinking... Jesus brought us a complimentary glass of Chica Morada Lt which was freshly homemade and oh so good! I've been going to this restaurant since I was 8 years old. I am now 23. My family and I have always promoted this restaurant to friends, relatives, and co-workers. Today is Father's day and I asked my dad where would he like us to get him for lunch. He first said Red lobster but then said lets go to Planet chicken thinking hey it's always good, people are friendly, and it's always a good time. Literally WORST experience ever. The waiters were so Rude and disrespectful. Literally got annoyed when we asked him for green sauce, when we asked for a few more minutes to think about our order (restaurant was empty), and when we asked for to go plates. My husband and I went to this place because we love Peruvian food and the ratings were great, however, although we went once, the food was dull and tasteless. We began with salchipapa, typically made with a pink sauce. The menu described the sauce came with the sauce but it didn't, we were given the ingredients to make it ourselves. We also ordered the beef lomo saltado and it lacked seasoning as well as the sauce that is customarily made with it. The dish seemed like it was cooked in a rush.
