Never again! It was a bad experience. The restaurant is very charming and has a pleasant atmosphere. That's about it though.

We sat ourselves. The waitress passed by us about 7 times then approached after 10 minutes with no menus and said she didn't see us sitting there. She took our drink order and got it wrong. I don't know how someone can get two bottled beers wrong but they managed to. Then she finally brought us menus.

We ordered a margarita personal pizza and artichoke/spinach dip. She asked if we wanted both items to come out at the same time and we said yes. I assume she didn't tell the kitchen staff, because our dip looked awful, the cheese had solidified and tasted old and tangy. I believe it sat under a heat lamp waiting for our pizza to finish cooking. The pizza was about the same quality as the frozen pizza's at Shoprite. The dough was a frozen/defrost dough and the sauce was salty and super thin. The mozzarella cheese was tasty.

I've been there once before about 8 years ago and had a good experience. They've gone down hill since then. This visit was very, very disappointing. I will not...

I've always driven past this place had never really been in there and last night for Valentine's day we went out with the family we were upstairs where the bar was very old looking like they forgot about the place the server wasn't the best she didn't really come back to our table to check on us to see if weI had ordered the root beer and it tastes like water and we had ordered melt crab pretzel the crab meat was imitation and we also ordered the nacho platter we had a little baby with us that was 7 months and the server since the hot plates by the baby in the reach not very smart. It's a bit pricey and just let me tell you the nachos were not worth it very dissatisfied also ordered a brownie with ice cream and by the time I got it it was all melted it...

I have been going to the hotel for over 20 years. Food has always been great. Went today with my wife and brother in law and his wife. First they should have a waitress or waiter there. The bartender was the waiter and bartender and had ti take care of 5 tables and cleaning them and taking orders. We had manhattan clam chowder that tasted awful and another that wifey can’t remember that was awful also. Hamburgers were ok and the Cuban sandwich was drenched in gravy and could not pick it up. Gave the sandwich back. To my surprise they charged me for the Cuban sandwich. Had to ask to have it taken off the bill which he did. Maybe they changed the chef there but was very dissapointed. Hopefully better...

A spur of the moment stop. Always drove by and was wondering how good of a hotel and/or restaurant. The history goes back to 1925. They have a bar downstairs while a more formal restaurant upstairs. The menu is the same for either one. This establishment showed its age. Today, was at the lower bar. We had an Old Fashioned and a beer. We started with the Calamari which was floured and Old Bay seasoning. It was okay but, the spicy marinara made up for it. The port cheddar cheeseburger was overcooked. I had the prime rib sandwich which was very tasty. They do have specials and a private parking lot.

The Dunellen Hotel & Rathskeller is a pub/restaurant. Great assortment of draft and bottled beers. Restaurant upstairs and bar area (Rathskeller) downstairs. Pretzel crab meltaway is a favorite appetizer. Great burgers, nice sandwich selection. Lobster Reuben is a popular choice. Onion soup is a favorite Ample parking in rear. Reservations recommended on the weekends.
