The food at Fondita tastes as wonderful as anything I had on the streets of Mexico City. The carnitas were an absolute triumph. The al pastor perfectly grilled. The chicken tender and delicious. And the salsa rojo was a perfect compliment to it all. I finished it off with a perfectly balanced (and enormous) tres leches, another win for this tiny operation situated next to a gas station somewhere in suburban Atlanta.
The aquas frescas are bottomless, and the horchata alone calls me back. They have other classic staples such as pozole and huaraches. I was absolutely kicking myself for missing the molƩ special and I may have to go back a few days in a row to try everything.
My only request is that they make a salsa verde with tomatillo. The current salsa is much closer to a remoulade, not as piquant as preferred for Southern American tastes. The sauce they use now is perfect for shrimp, less compelling on barbacoa.
They have had to fill out the menu with California staples like quesadillas, nachos, and burritos. This restaurant at its heart is a real taqueria. If you want California or Tex Mex, there are better options.

Took 25 min, cashier on phone texting ignoring customers (me), waited forever for the food. Itās clean, but something is off with the guac salsa, tastes like sink water.
They make their own chips for the guacamole (which I highly recommend), but the chips were a little salty/soggy. Maybe thatās why the didnāt use them in the nachos. Nachos had store bought round chips⦠toppings on the nachos (chorizo, etc.) weāre good if you used another chip.
Quesadilla š tastes like Velveta cheese was used and it was greasy, soggy, and pieces on top of each other so it was a big mess - shrimp was not seasoned. It came with beans and rice and neither were seasoned and didnāt taste good.
I donāt know - I keep hearing good things about this restaurant, so maybe weāll try the tacos and see...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is the taqueria I have been needing in my life! Super authentic! Owned by a sweet family. We have tried the carne asada, barbacoa, pastor, and camarones tacos. All are fab. Then they have this round shaped stuffed item that is made out of the same flour that tamales are and filled with beans and cheese-yum! This is our new go to for a quick lunch or dinner to go. Oh, and the salsaā¦so delicious, especially the green salsa. The red salsa def has some...
