the pizza by slices were atrocious. the slices look a day or even days old. I ordered a supreme slice and everything looked sad. cheese, crust, bread, pepperoni, all look old. it felt like eating an omelette instead of NY pizza. breading was soggy, pepperoni tasted aged, green peppers were olive coloured, cheese was crusty, crust was like breaking chalk. felt like this thing went through several cycles of refrigeration and reheating. there's a sign on the board saying that employees must throw out slices if they've been sitting out for 4 hours. what a lie.
I had ordered 3 slices (Cheese, White, and Supreme) in person during lunch hour on Sat, 2022-06-25. When I came at around 2-3PM, there were only what looked to be leftover slices: 2 slices of cheese, 2 slices of white, 4-5 slices of Supreme, and 1-2 slices of Meat Lovers. Compared to other NY style pizza places, the quality of the slices seemed lacking and was indeed lacking, especially the Supreme slice and I stand by my previous comments regarding the Supreme slice. The Cheese and White slices was not as bad, but not exceptional either. Mind you, I ONLY had the SLICES on THAT DAY; maybe on some other day, this might not be the case. On a brighter side, I also saw the freshly baked whole cheese pizza pie fresh out of the oven and it looked nice and appetizing. Next time when I do decide to order takeout, I will at least know to get a freshly baked whole pie in lieu of potentially repeating what had happened on 2022-06-25. I can't comment too much on the price; not much experience as 2022-06-25 was my first visit. At a menu glance level, regardless of food quality, prices of specialty slices seem a tad higher than fair compared to other places, but prices for Large 16" pies do seem...
Read moreI am so happy that my wife discovered this gem. What an amazing place with delicious pizza and friendly staff. Here is the summary of my experience here;
Ambiance 3/5: Well this is not a fine dining restaurant. This is mostly a takeaway place but they still have some seats for people to eat and wait while they cook it fresh. Even then, I love their transparent setting where you can see your pizza being made, cooked, and packed. There is some parking in front but you might have to search for some space during rush hours
Service 5/5: The people here are friendly, helpful, cheerful,l and a delight to talk to. They make sure your requests are taken care of.
Food 6/5: We ordered a half-and-half cheese and mushroom pizza, and it was absolute heaven. As per my wife, you could close your eyes while eating a slice and feel transported to a New York pizzeria.
Value for Money 5/5: The prices are great and you could have a full meal for under $10. This is true value for money with great taste.
If you are a New York-style pizza lover who loves great pizza and great prices in and around this place and has not visited this place yet, you are missing a lot! :)
What's Good:
Not so Good:
I was super eager to try this pizzeria after seeing it posted & talked about on Dunwoody Restaurants FB group & it's 5 stars with all 5 reviews at the time. After trying it, it is overhyped. The crust is not good, the dough used is nothing special. They are extremely overpriced for the quality. Their calzones use frozen dough; not fresh yet charge as if it were a high end calzone. I tried their Margherita, White & Pepperoni pizzas. They all had nothing special to them. For the price, you might as well go to Mellow Mushroom or DaVincis both in Dunwoody.
I'm giving it one star; quality and taste does not justify the price. Either make the quality better or lower the price. Felt I was cheated for those 3 pizzas costing $60.
I'm adding this portion due to the response from the owner below. If you make it fresh daily then I suggest getting a better quality dough. As previously mentioned, DaVincis & Mellow Mushroom which are both franchises provide a better taste of the dough compared to yours even though yours seems to not be a franchise. Typically it's the other way around; franchises provide the lower quality due to bulk. Instead of inviting me to your place, I suggest you visit the aforementioned and see it...
