Redstart Takeaway — Restaurant in Durham

Everything about Redstart is amazing! I love that it’s incredibly unique and at the same time so very Durham. The quiches never disappoint. The hot foods are always amazing and since I’ve had their English muffin with egg and cheese and pickles on it, I never wanna have egg and cheese any other way. My husband is an accomplished chef in his own, right, and we often don’t go out to eat because we can do so well at home. Redstar is the one exception to this rule. This is not one of those places where you have a stellar meal and the next time you go it’s just OK. We’ve eaten there many times and everything, I mean, everything is great and memorable. I love that. It’s a neighborhood place, and I hope that it is there forever. If you find yourself there on a Saturday or Sunday, I urge you to try whatever donut flavor is the flavor of the day. This place is INCREDIBLE! I live in the neighborhood and have been meaning to check out Takeaway for a while and cannot believe I deprived myself of it this long.

My wife and I went for breakfast this morning and had arguably the best bacon egg and cheese I've had in Durm. The hot sauce and pickles are a must-add and we got a side of potatoes. I left happy, full and wholly unprepared for getting to work on this Friday morning.

Perhaps the best part about Takeaway is the atmosphere. The staff are sweet and the interior design is so warm, inviting and just plain cool. I have a feeling I'll be coming in here every week for a breakfast sandwich, grab and go lunch and one of their candles shaped like a loaf of bread.

We came for their new dinner service around 6:30. The food came out quickly. I ordered the quarter chicken and the green been salad (special). The quarter chicken that is served with pickles, cabbage, and potatoes is a fantastic value (12.50) for the high quality of food. Everything we had was seasoned well and the roasted chicken was very moist. The sides all complimented the chicken very well and felt like a truely balanced meal.

The value and quality is difficult to beat. Overall, I would definitely return for dinner.
