I've been to this place a couple of times now. The parking is terrible. The food is great. I never go there by myself, as my car sits to low to the ground to not jack up the bumper when getting in an out of the parking lot. There are no spaces marked, so the huge trucks/vans of the people that frequent the place just park wherever, making it hard to find a spot. We usually get the tacos and the aqua fresca. The food is very affordable at $1.50 per taco. The are a tad smaller than at other places, so I get 3-4 tacos, depending on how hungry I am. For me, the marinated taco meats (al pastor, chicken tinga, barbacoa, etc) are too spicy, so I stick to the plain ones like the chicken (pollo), steak (asada), and pork (carnitas). My husband, however, likes spicy food. He says the spice level is just perfect for him. The toppings bar is cool too, with multiple salsas, cilantro, onions and a spicy carrot and onion mix. Ordering and getting you food can be difficult, especially if you don't speak Spanish. The room is split in two. You order and pick up your plate on one side, while you get your beverage on the other. They give you a ticket with a number for the food and call it out in garbled Spanish over a microphone. There is almost never anyone there to get you your beverage. Basically, you have to stand there with whomever else wants a drink, until the person at the register doesn't have any more orders to take. Then you have to flag them down to get you your drink. Thankfully, they have recently put up signs with what flavors of Aqua frescas are available. The first time I went, I tried to ask the poor girl what flavors they had and she didn't know what the English words were for the flavors. I have since just pointed to one and hoped I liked that flavor. The white one is Horchata, sort of a sweet rice/almond/cinnamon drink. It seems to be the most popular. Refills are not free, so you may want to order a large size in the first place. Overall, this place has...
Read moreThis place is fantastic. I inadvertently came in right before closing and made a huge order, which is poor form. Luckily, the ladies working were so accommodating and just generally happy people. They were very happy to fill the order. I got one of each taco because we wanted to try everything. I'm so glad we did. The tacos are simple, and there wasn't a bad one in the bunch. Lamb, chicken, beef, pork; it's all good! The pico was quite fresh (a feat considering they were about to close). The sauces come on the side and are awesome. The red one has a great heat level if you like spicy food. The green one is more tame for the less initiated. I think we spent about $40 and it was enough food for 6 people, so the value is great. We took our order to go, but the restaurant itself is pretty large and the music just makes you want to dance. I'll be going back to try some other menu items like the burritos, tortas, and chilaquiles. It all looks great. Definitely try...
