I ordered a couple cheeseburger meals on their app while I was in Highwire. I got a weird notification when I clicked the submit button that said something like “this time slot is no longer available choose the next available time slot” it didn’t show me the next available time slot but I just accepted. I waited like 10 minutes then walked over to the restaurant. While the interior is very cozy looking, I couldn’t find a single staff member in the dining room. I wondered if they were closed, but their hours were not listed anywhere I could see. Myself and 3 other people were just kind of standing at the counter. Finally a security guard walks into the restaurant and into the kitchen, finds a cook, and then the ONLY STAFF MEMBER in the building LEAVES the restaurant to do something for her. He comes back in and doesn’t say a single word to any of us?! I’m hoping he’s making my food so I wait a bit longer. I go back and look at my order confirmation in my email and realize the “next available” time was the following day at noon! Because the guy in the back is unaccessible, I decide to try and call around to cancel my order. I contact revel who is the hosting platform the orders are made through via email. At this point it’s later in the evening so I just decide to call the next day. I called multiple times and continuously got sent to voicemail. I’ve left multiple voicemails and sent emails. Finally the next day someone calls me and asks me if I’m coming to pick up my food. I tell him I’d been calling and calling to cancel. He said okay and I thought we were squared away. But it has been multiple days and no refund has been issued. I finally disputed the charge with my bank. I don’t live locally and have visited Highwire a couple times, but am not familiar with the area otherwise. I’m not going to order from this...
Read moreI recently visited Fifty91 in Durham, hoping to finally try their chicken bulgogi sandwich, which had been on my list for a while. I placed my order at 1:19 p.m. on a Saturday, and the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy at the time. Soon after, more people trickled in, including a table of four who arrived after I had ordered.
Around 1:41 p.m., I noticed that a single chicken bulgogi sandwich came out of the kitchen—the only food that had been prepared for dine-in customers during that time—and was brought directly to the table of four. I had a feeling it might have been my order since their food didn’t come out together, but I decided to wait a bit longer, assuming it would be sorted out soon.
By 2:00 p.m., after waiting almost 40 minutes with no food, I asked the server to check on my order and those of other dine-in customers. Instead of going back to the kitchen to check on orders, she continued taking new orders, making coffees, and filling beer pints for new guests. It felt like dine-in orders weren’t being prioritized, and it was frustrating to see other tasks take precedence when several of us had been waiting a long time for food.
Finally, I asked for a refund because my order still hadn’t been prepared, and my patience had run out. This was my first visit to Fifty91, and I had been looking forward to trying that sandwich, so it was pretty disappointing to walk away with a bad first...
Read moreAVOID AT ALL COSTS. I ordered food online while at Highwire at 6:04pm on a Saturday and the email said it would be ready in 15 minutes. I walked over to pick it up at 6:26 and the only guy I could see in there (aside from a few customers standing around) went to the computer, clearly printed off my order and told me it would be ready in a few minutes. I asked how many minute and he said 10. I went back over at 6:41 and it still wasn’t ready. While I was standing there waiting, another man came out of the kitchen watching something in his phone and walked to the bathroom. When he came back from the bathroom he was still watching his phone and went right back into the kitchen. I watched him carrying around white buckets with food while also holding and watching his phone. GROSS. Who knows where that phone has been. My order was ready at 6:48 and I walked it back to my table only to realize that I was given a bunch of chicken wings but no fries and no salad that should have come with the burgers I ordered. I went back and had to go into the kitchen to find someone. The gentleman told me that they were out of fries and he had substituted chicken wings….ummmm no. I knew I wasn’t going to get anywhere so I just left, only to realize every single one of the 3 burgers I ordered did not have the toppings I had ordered. The only reason this place stays in business is because it’s next to Highwire....
