Wayback Burgers — Restaurant in Durham

My family and I were looking forward to trying this place after finding it recently. We're huge burger lovers. What a huge disappointment. We JUST came back and I'm not even thru eating...and I had to sit and write a review. We arrived on a friday evening and were told right away...things were running behind and it would take about 20 minutes....no worries, we were in no rush, just wanted to have a good burger and fries...

We ordered a double bacon burger with onion rings a single bacon burger with O fries (which for some reason Im still not sure of...I was sold a combo meal and received a soda, being told its cheaper to get that then just a burger and fries...I fail to see how this is likely or possible...cant tell via the reciept, there are no charges on it...convenient...) and a Carolina with a side of fries and we got a side of fried mac and cheese bites (we had all wanted to try them...)

again I will state we had no issues waiting...

I like condiments...but burgers should not come swimming in them My single burger was absolutely swimming in mustard as was the Carolina burger.

I understand a good burger costs more...I prefer to eat at a better burger place for better burgers...but the portions were not worth the cost remotely for what is received...which honestly was a sloppy costly mess.

My O fries...came as an order of just onion rings...

I'd like to think that posting a negative review would grab the attention of the owners, but all other negative reviews seem to say the same thing: We're sorry you had a bad experience, we hope you give us another try.

Why? Why would ANYONE bother?

In a day an age where there are millions of options out there and competition is high for customers...I'd think a place like this would care about negative reviews, and would care more to make up for poor service. I will not be returning here and will tell anyone I can better options when I hear they are thinking about...

I would rate 0 stars if I could! After ordering from this location serval times I had my first and last worst experience! A friend ordered for us, and on our way to work to enjoy the food. My friend food was made incorrectly and the shake had hair in it. We called before entering work to make the store aware of the problem we had and to seek a refund due to not being able to return for a remake! My friend stated the person inside was working the register, drinks and grill due to short staff(9/7/24 @ 2:29) We were to come and bring receipt and that we would be refunded for the order!

I went back in today (9/8/24) for the refund that I was guaranteed on the phone! I walked in and let management know. He was already aware of the situation and let me know he “checked” the cameras. He told me what he could refund me for something and for everything else I can call “food inspector” I replied Wayback Corporate? I asked for the number and he suggested I look on the website. Which I did in front of him. After saying he would refund me for what he could he continued to go off at the mouth! He even misplaced the receipt and was digging and in out the trash and putting on hand sanitizer to find it(that’s what they call sanitation) never once did he wash his hands not even to take the person behind me order. While refunding me for what he could he told me “If you don’t like us, don’t come back” I didn’t once yell at him, cuss at him or disrespectful him at all. He made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome! I replied to him just give me the refund so I can leave! As a management you will have unsatisfied customers. Wrong is wrong! You should feel the need to make sure a person have a better experience next time and I did not have that! I will NOT return but I did take the time to write this review because I am a paid customer and I am entitled to have a refund for anything I’m not...

I tried Wayback Burger today for the first time. I don't spend a lot of $$ eating out but I was excited about trying something new. I ordered through Door dash. Everything was prepared timely and delivered timely. I ordered a burger, house made chips and a strawberry shake. The burger was just ok. I had two bites and was done. the toppings, however were very fresh and I like their choice of bun. It wasn't special overall, however. the chips were great. not salty at all. The creamy ranch tastes like hidden valley ranch, which is my least favorite. the Strawberry shake was runny & tasted just like the strawberry protein drinks i buy at Costco.I was disappointed. Because the tomato lettuce and Bun were so good I'm not going to give this restaurant a complete negative review but honestly the experience wasn't special at all and I don't live far from the restaurant so there would have been no reason for the shake to have melted between pickup...
