If you're looking for traditional barbecue, this isn't the place. Is more of an artisan take on barbecue.
After seeing ribs on their website, thought"All right, let's go!"
The regular staples of meats aren't really an option unless you want them as a part of a "creation".
No ribs, no pulled pork, didn't see an option for meat by the pound on the menu.
I went there thinking I was going to be getting some pulled pork, ribs and maybe a side. Some in house made BBQ sauce would have been cool. Nope. "BBQ BOYS" seems like a misleading name for the type of menu items they have.
I'm sure there's lots of people that will like this place, but this didn't fit the usual category of "barbecue"
I imagine this place would be much more popular in the dinkytown or frogtown area because that's kind of the vibe the menu kicks out.
The employees were super nice. The food was not what I was hoping for.

Read moreIf you're looking for BBQ, this is not the place to go. This should be called Global Cuisine or Curry Corner, etc. There is no BBQ, smoked, or traditionally grilled items - no ribs, burnt ends, pulled pork, brisket, sausage, etc. This isn't even "global bbq". We had 2 different types of chicken wings - both tasted identical. Both were very dry with an overabundance of curry seasoning - not a dusting. There was so much that it didn't even meld into the wings - it was though it was a last thought to pour some flavor onto the wings. Could not even taste the dried out chicken wings, just curry seasoning.
I had the pork belly bowl - very good flavors, however, pork belly was not smoked and was dry. My wife had the shrimp bowl which she said was "okay" but could have had more than 3 shrimp.
Calling this place BBQ Boys is really false...
Read moreIf you love BBQ and especially if you like BBQ from all over the globe, you'll love the options at BBQ Boys. I visited on their second day of operation so the menu was limited but still quite adequate with some items that might sound strange but taste amazingly good. I am excited to see what they do when they expand the menu.
Seating is very limited in the tiny place so takeout might be a good option for you if you are with a party of three or more. Parking can be a problem as the businesses near by are popular and attract a lot of people especially in the evening. The staff at BBQ Boys are wonderful people and live to talk with customers and hear what you think of their BBQ. You won't spend a lot for a great tasting meal but portions aren't very large compared to some other established BBQ places around...
