What just happened? I'm not sure if there is really a Sal but I do know whom ever is running things, needs to check themselves. Arrived 2hrs before closing. There were a few tables occupied and at least a single that sat after our 5. The food really wasn't bad. Typical stab at Italian American red sauce cuisine. All in all good. BUT then half way through our meal the waitress says " she is leaving, she was just covering for someone else". Half joking I said, "what are we supposed to do" assuming one of the cooks would fill in for the last hour of their advertised hours... "Just go to the counter if you need anything", she says. I was actually fine with that until, within minutes of her leaving the check on the table and walking away someone from the kitchen comes out and starts tossing chairs on to the tables. At this point there is still well over an hour before they close. Had he been discrete and made some attempt to be quiet I might have looked past this. Ok we will just go. Take what's left back to the hotel. I step to the register to ask for some boxes. Our waitress is still here, and says " he told me to ask you to pay now because he wants to start closing out the register. This after I asked the fella making all the racket with the chairs what time they closed. He confirmed 10 pm. It still was before 9pm. That was the last straw for me. Waitress bails out mid service Throwing chairs up on to the tables more than hour before closing Asked to pay my bill while we were still eating. Come on Sal. EDIT: After 5 years no attempt at an apology from this establishment, though they take the time to thank those that leave...
Read moreWe have been regular Saturday night customers for cheese steaks for about 16 years now. When the cheese steaks are served hot they are the best we ever had, however when not served hot they are less than desirable. We have often experienced getting them ‘not hot’ and we have just sucked it up knowing that it will be better next week. And if it was served hot next week then that assisted in letting us forget about the bad experience. Well, as of now July 9, 2022 it has happened too often, the circumstances of this Saturday visit has made us change our Saturday restaurant selection. The events included the following; the sandwich was cold, we were charged a price increase even though the menu that we ordered from had not been updated with the new prices, I used a credit card for the first time ever and they charged me a service charge for using it, I had always previously used cash and they had never given or offered me their advertised discount for using cash. The combination of the 4 things has regretfully changed our mind about Sal’s Pizza being our Saturday...
Read moreThe atmosphere and menu were nice, but the food and clerk lacked. The red sauce is so bland we reseasoned it itself at home. The man seemed to hate his job, and snapped at me to hurry up and order. $75 for 2 pizzas, 1 lasagne, 3 drinks, 1 cannoli we didn't receive, an appetizer we didn't receive and a mixed plate. The portions were amazing and generous in size, and if you like food on the bland side you'll get several days of meals out of it.
I would say give it a try, but it was definitely not for me; I wouldn't expect a friendly experience - maybe just try it delivery style.
The mixed plate was greasy and the fries soggy (fries and Italian was kind of a risk for me anyway). The fried zucchini was slime, as were the mushrooms. Mozzarella sticks weren't bad, but not in my top ten. The Cheesesteak stuffed pizza was good. The rest was not edible to me. I became sick to my stomach and prayed to not re-taste that food coming up. I held strong.
If I had to pick this or pizza hut, I'd...
