We decided to give this place a try. I would say Bridgewater and its surrounding towns (excluding Brockton) aren’t known for their variety in cuisines. When it comes to Asian cuisine in the area you have Krystal’s Kitchen and Chatta Box which are fine, and you have Sugarcane which is good Thai but it can be a bit pricey. We were hoping for something to be our new go-to in the area, so we finally tried Deng’s Garden. We weren’t disappointed. We ordered food on a Tuesday; the guy on the phone told us to give it 20 minutes and so I showed up about 30 minutes after ordering. The interior was a bit bare-bones, not much in the way of interior design, but for takeout none of this really mattered to me. Simple transaction where I paid, snagged the food and went home. The guy at the counter was straight forward. Not rude, not overly excited to see me; just made sure it was my order and had me pay. I think that’s why some of the comments are calling them rude; people could just be mistaking an abrasive attitude with being rude. By the time I got home the food was still hot! It was packed well and they made sure to give us a package of all the sauces we could ever need. After digging in, I was glad we took the chance to try this place. The food was great and by far one of the best restaurants in the area, even more so compared to other non-American style places. We got the Yu Hsiang Chicken, Coconut Shrimp, Crab Rangoon, and Steamed Taro Buns. All of it was excellent and I am excited to try more from this place. We will definitely be back and I implore you all to try this place, and maybe do it on a night that you don’t expect them to be busy. They seem like a small shop and basing your judgments on order times when you place an order with them on NYE just feels wild to me. IDK maybe I just got lucky, but I had a great meal from them and will be...
Read moreI get that NYE is the busiest night for Chinese food, and takeout times are always longer than quoted. Not an issue, 100% understand and sympathize. Placed my order 24 hours in advance and was told it would be ready by 7PM. Showed up tonight a little before 7 and was told it would be at least another hour. Totally fine and expected. Guy told me we could wait there or wait at home and they would call us. Went home and waited. Someone else (“bartender” apparently) calls at 8:30, huffs at me for not waiting there for 90 minutes and tells me “you better get back here right away”. Then gets snotty with me again when I showed up to get my food. Like I’M the one who caused this problem. Told him maybe to check the attitude when they’re the ones who were 90 minutes late, not me. He kept squawking the entire time we were waiting to get our food and pay, acting like a tough guy protected by a crowded room and a bar top. Specifically complained to the woman at the register and added that he was the specific reason I won’t be back. Price was ridiculous and not justifiable based on the quality. Food ranged from ice cold and inedible to mediocre (beef teriyaki was pretty good). And they messed up the order. Would give this place zero stars if I could.
Curse words removed to keep this...
Read moreI’m sad to say the least. The past 2 years has been an amazing food experience with this restaurant. Five stars no doubt every-time, everything was always quick fresh and food in 15 minutes. Amazing soft flavorful rice, the wings and crab Rangoon were to die for. Always recommended this place.
Last night we ordered for the first time since the new management. It’s just sad. Beyond how awful we felt after eating which we have never with dengs before, The food is not very fresh. The rice has peas in it and just tasteless. The crab Rangoon which you get 3 of (used to be 5 or 6 same price) has onions in them so so so gross and the food is just overall greasy. The chicken fingers used to be a go to, now they are about 1/4 the size very dark, and hard and to say the least inedible. The spareribs are hard, they used to be so fresh and juicy.
I will say the only thing that did improve is the hot and sour soup. It was a decent taste but I wouldn’t want to sacrifice the taste and quality of everything else for an okay cup of soup.
New management should probably think about either getting their head chef back or trying to cook like the old management did. Until then, we won’t be back. A waste of upset stomachs,...
