The Good: Properly prepared food that is well what you would expect from a roadside steakhouse and grille. Portions that fill and they don't skimp (this coming from a guy that can hold his own as far as a meal goes). Atmosphere is low key if not a little dim but it sets a relaxing mood. Table service was attentive but not pushy and our server was very polite and patient. All in all it was a good meal.
The 'Not so Good': The hostess was an older lady that may have had a bad day and after one simple question about how the layout is mixed (because this is actually 2 restaurants and an outdoor bar / deck in one big building) she was less than friendly with her answer and seemed to be rather disinterested in saying much of anything else. She quickly sat us (2 adults, 2 teen girls and 1 little guy) and hurried back off to her podium to rejoin conversation at the bar with the other servers (about half a dozen in all).
The Bad: Not really a family place to eat but it is doable. While being a smaller restaurant is not a bad thing in any way; there definitely seems to be too many servers for a place that at the mid afternoon to early evening time frame would ever need 4 servers, 1 bartender, and 1 hostess for a max of 6 tables and maybe 1 person at the bar.
Bottom line is that it is good food at a high price and probably more along the lines of a dinner and drinks evening than somewhere you can take the whole family for a good meal.
That is a lot of overhead that ends up going into the check and that's were this place goes from a 3.5/4 star rating on this scale to at most a 3 - the attitude, the pricing and the check drop it down. For a total of 3 lower menu price adult meals (the girls split a meal) and the equivalent of an appetizer the check was just over $80...
Read moreDefinitely having someone else answer the phone and greet customers would be beneficial. She was so unfriendly!! I'll never understand why someone works with the public and is rude. I really wanted to match her energy but it's just not who I am. It did set the tone for our evening out which is a bummer because this was a special occasion. Our server was kind, sweet, friendly and that helped. However, I'm not sure if they were short staffed or if we were forgotten, but it took 45 minutes before our order was taken. Our server took drink and appetizer orders and then left. I was thinking most places you put your entire order in at the same time but she didn't give us a chance to. I'm fact after our apps were just about eaten, we had to get her attention and ask her to please take our order. Our food was delicious. Steaks were cooked perfectly! Our server was attentive to drinks, she did forget to bring one, but that's not a big deal. Portion sizes are really good, except for the fried shrimp, they were tiny and very fried. Our appetizers were delicious as well!! 5 stars for the food!!! Even the delay in ordering isn't a big deal to us and understandable if short staffed. You could tell our server was...
Read moreI'm from out of town and went there in a Friday night with my sister. We waited for a table as it was busy. I started off with s margarita, which was probably the best I've ever had. My sister had a pins colada, I tasted it and it was delicious. The food was good. We each had filet, they were cooked to perfection, I had the mashed potatoes, I didn't care for them because they just weren't good.My sister is very picky and she loved it. We took our dessert to go but we didn't get utensils to eat them with but we managed. We went pack the next night and had another person with us. The drinks were not as good as the night before at all. There was no consistency there. The steaks were good and I got a baked potato this time. The creamed spinach was really good. All in all the food is quite tasty. It is a little pricey but it was a treat. I say treat yourself and go. We're going to try to make a monthly trip there. Donna our waitress from the first night was also very awesome. We wanted to sit in her section the second night but she only had tables for large parties unless we wanted to sit...
