Going to take off a star because of a visit yesterday. I went in the early afternoon, and the pizzas all looked not very fresh. Warming it up in the oven is okay, but I still know it's been sitting there for a couple of hours.
Pizza places abound in Connecticut. Oddly, however, there appear to be few places that serve by the slice--this makes it difficult to go solo for pizza at lunch. Thank goodness for Villa Milano.
Their pizza is fresh, hot, and cheap. They don't always have a huge variety at lunch. The chef told me that there simply isn't enough foot traffic to justify making several different pizzas. However, they will make you a pizza fresh if you like, and the options available are always good.
The "Grandpa" pizza is worth a try. This is the Sicilian-style pan pizza that has the sauce on top of the cheese. Sounds a bit strange, but it is delicious.
I also like their panini sandwiches. It appears that they use pizza dough to form the bread, and it is very, very good. I like the veggie. These can take some time to cook; my advice is to call ahead 15 minutes if you want a panini.
They don't have a soda fountain, but they stock a fridge with bottled soda with many varieties.
The service is always nice...
Read moreI ordered some baked ziti, a sandwich and cheese fries. The sandwich was pretty good (peppers, eggs and cheese) but there wasn't much cheese in there. The salad that came with the ziti was really good. It came with peppers, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, and pitted olives. The cheese fries were pretty awful. There was a tiny bit of mozzarella cheese on top of some very soggy french fries. Finally, the baked ziti... There was plenty of it, a huge portion. It had ricotta cheese and was baked with a generous amount of mozzarella (they could have moved some of that over to the cheese fries) The problem here is that someone grabbed a salt shaker and forgot to stop pouring. The ziti was so salty that I couldn't eat more than 3 bites. To make it worse, the ziti was overcooked and the pasta fell apart whenever I put a fork in it. The delivery (I placed the order at 7:30 on a Monday night) took an hour and 20 minutes to reach me... In their defense, it did say it would be an hour to an hour 30 for delivery, so they did hit the...
Read moreI will never recommend Villa Milano's pizza to anyone, nothing but problems. I had ordered 3 salads to be delivered which took over an hour to arrive. When the salads finally came the chicken was raw so I called back explaining to them the chicken was under cooked and didn't feel comfortable consuming raw chicken where the guy proceeded to argue with me saying there's no way the chicken isnt cooked, not to mention he was being extremely rude over the phone. At first he did not want to make new salads but eventually agreed to deliver new ones but unfortunately those too also had raw chicken on top. When the new salads were being delivered the same delivery man did not even have the courtesy to wait until I was off the phone to check the salads but rather tossed the bag on the counter and took off. I will never eat or order from this restaurant again. Villa Milano's has no customer...
