Dominy Restaurant and Bakery — Restaurant in East Orange

I am posting this review because I am highly upset that we will no longer be able to order from this restaurant again. I called and made arrangements with Ingrid for our agency to receive meals 1-2 times/week and she was nice enough to meet out budget($10/person) for at minimum, 25 orders, sometimes twice/week. I explained the importance of our orders being ready on time(11:45 pickup) as we run on a schedule for groups, breaks and lunch and the deal was made However, for the past two weeks, in her absence, there have been too many problems getting my clients fed...on time. Last week lunch was delayed, not enough vegetables were made and some trays (2 to be exact) arrived with no meat...no meat. Our driver went back and that issue was corrected. Yesterday, I ordered 27 turkey wing trays only to find out, when the driver got there at 11:30, that they had no turkey wings (They had to send them back because they were too small). Still not enough vegetables made someone had to go to the store to get more. Had to switch to pollo guisado, which was not what I wanted, requested, or ordered. I still have one of my clients asking me if we're having turkey wings today... I sent a text and email the day before to inform the restaurant of the order and the response that I received was "ok" At no point did anyone contact me by phone or text to say otherwise on the day of pickup. AND the order was late again due to this issue. Trying to give the community support has once again backfired, even when the restaurant is getting at minimum $250/order. Myself, staff and our clients are upset about losing this restaurant as an option, especially when we had so many delicious options. Customer service sucks , i went there 5pm to buy the whole red snapper and i was told to come back in 10 minutes, i returned 30 minutes later, bought the snapper, rice and beans , plantains, I finally sat down to eat my dinner around 9.30 ish that night and i started eating the fish , i started chocking , because the fish was not scaled at all , i returned the next day on my way home from work around 4 pm to speak with the guy that takes the payments etc , this guy was blantanly very rude, first he said we don’t have any fish right now and let him check the back and speak with them because the fish comes cleaned, then he comes back and said yes the fish comes clean , i said it may be clean inside because it’s gutted but it was scaled and i was choking at home , he proceeded tell me some story of a guy who received the wrong food the day before and he brought it back in the next day, & i should have kept the fish and brought it in to show them , he saw these same pictures that I’ve posted here , his response was wrong and rude , 24 hours later i should have brought it back , had i brought it back in 23 hours later with his response and attitude, he could easily say you didn’t get that here , i still had my receipt just not the food in a box etc , learn how to speak to your customers , a better approach and answer could have been accepted and this review would have not...

I would give this a NEGATIVE RATING if I could. I've been going to DOMINY since a coworker told me about the place last summer. Their customer service has been HORRIBLE since the beginning and I've ignored the bad manners. It's a cheap place to get a hot meal; I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I told myself it was because they can't speak English, but no; they're just MEAN, RUDE people. If the Asian lady at my favorite Chinese restaurant (who barely speaks English) can smile and say thank you, so can they. The last time I was there it was the usual STANK service. They act like they're doing you a favor serving you. The girl "dropped" my change in my hand and didn't say thank you (not the 1st time this happened). I'M JUST DONE!! The food's not all that and even if it was I refuse to spend my money where I'm disrespected. I know Dominicans live on the same island as Haitians and discriminate against them. It's either a matter of PREJUDICE (they don't like dark-skinned people) or they are HORRIBLE HUMAN BEINGS. Either way it doesn't matter. I'M NOT SPENDING ONE MORE...
