La Boulangerie Firma Bakery — Restaurant in East Orange

I do not recommend this place. After arranging catering and ordering a custom cake a week in advance, and paying for delivery, they failed to deliver. It took me calling 3 times almost 2 hours after it was supposed to be delivered (after saying a delivery fee, calling to confirm multiple times, and calling at the delivery time to confirm they were on their way) for them to finally get up and deliver the catered food. By then the party was over. Also, they do not make Haitian cake. They delivered a single layer yellow box cake with plain icing (when I paid for buttercream) that was not decorated...after charging an extra fee for decorating... They literally wrote on the cake on the street in the car. And even then, they misspelled two words and forgot a whole word.

So yeah. They give you old food three hours late, do not fulfill orders, and will gladly steal your money if you do not harass them to get what you paid for. Thank God they didn't give me too much trouble for a refund, and they refunded it in full, because I have never had a...

I’m so sad .the minute I took a taste of the patties in the store I immediately asked to speak with the women that I know owned the place since I was a little girl . When the man told me she wasn’t there. I told him I haven’t seen her in a while was she ok . Then he told me she moved to Florida . I just knew that was it ! no wonder why the patties were NOT the same . I went back in a month to give it a try again cause I craved a Hatian Pattie and I wanted to support thinking maybe that day was just a bad day . I tried a pate kode and it was worse ,it was mushy things inside and hot dogs. Me and husband were sick for a day or two . I don’t know what I was eating but it wasn’t pate kode . I’m officially done eating Haitian Patties and now every time I look at one I just remember the last ones I had . I’m originally from Brooklyn I moved here,almost two years ago and me being the foodie that I am, I’ve been trying to not just find and substitute the variety of cuisine that I’m accustomed to enjoying on a daily basis, but also exceed my expectations, I love almost all types of food but that’s a story for another day, back on track…I absolutely love Haitian food, the Griot, Tassot Cabrit & most of all that beautiful flaky patty that only Haitian bakers can make so perfectly,but like all things, there is good, better and best, I’ve tried a few Haitian restaurants, in and around Irvington,Newark and East Orange, the best patties and Griot I’ve had thus far is La Boulangerie, let me say this again “the best that I’ve had of the places that I’ve tried in Essex, has been La Boulangerie” the food is so good that I’m not in a rush to try other Haitian restaurants, I almost forgot the Pickli...
