Hickory Pit Bar-B-Que — Restaurant in East Ridge

Absolutely perfect! Great fast & friendly service and best food! We go back and forth from Indiana to Florida several times a year and always have seen Sugar's Rib on the hill but have never stopped. This time I said I'd like to stop and try it. So I looked it up to read reviews and view menu. I was appauled when I seen a rack of ribs were $29.95 and plates only come with 1 side and a piece of corn bread. First, I've never known anyone, anywhere charge that much for ribs and I don't care how good, I'm not paying that, plus a lot of reviews were saying ribs too fatty, or too much gristle. Second, everywhere I've ever gone for a plate of bbq you get two sides with it. They also upcharge 1.75 for "special sides". Since when is mac & cheese a special side with bbq?? With that being said, we ended up at Hickory Pitt, only 7 mins from interstate and couldn't be happier we found this place. The waitress was super sweet, fast getting our orders and refilling drinks. The tea was perfect, as was the food! I ordered stuffed baked potato with bbq chicken which was perfectly smoked and the best bbq sauce I've had. It was HUUUGE also. They give you so much chicken, but not complaining, better than not enough. My fiance ordered chopped pork plate with beans and potato salad. He ate every bite. Even allowed me to taste the beans and potato salad. I wish I had the recipe to that potato salad! It was so creamy and not overwhelming or dry like others. Lastly, my fiance was very impressed when the bill with tip was only $20!!!! We can't wait to go back!!! Keep it great Hickory Pit and we'll keep coming back!...

Going to start this by saying i have eaten from here many times, as it is close to my home and it is one of my favorite BBQ places. That being said this review is because something that never happens took place today and even though they had no control over it, the employees here went above and beyond to provide outstanding customer service.

I tried to order delivery through GrubHub to save some time as I was a bit busy today, even though they are 3 minutes from my home. It was free delivery and i didnt mind tipping a driver to bring it over. However it was more of a nightmare than i thought it would be, and the driver never went to pick up the food, never paid the business, and i had to call through grubhub and cancel my order. In fact they arent told by GrubHub that people are ordering though them, and my food was sitting for over 30 minutes when GrubHub sent me a text saying it was taking longer than normal to MAKE my food. One of the workers there, even though they do not do delivery, brought my food to my house. This is customer service that ive never seen before. I do have to go in tomorrow to pay them for this wonderful meal we have already enjoyed, and will likely be buying a whole new meal because they make amazing food.

Thank you again for righting a situation you had no responsibility for. We visit often for the food, but youve made some very happy, loyal patrons...

I ordered (#14) on July 3rd 2022. The cook acknowledged me as soon as I walked up to get my order. He let me know my food was ready, began pulling it from the warmer, and said the lady would be back shortly to ring me up. The lady finished dropping orders to the dine in customers and turned to acknowledge I had been standing there. I paid for my order and was signing the cred card receipt. Any previous good experience ended there. As the story continues please keep in mind I can see my order "dying in the window" as the restaurant industry likes to say. A customer behind me wouldn't wait for me to sign and let the lady bag my food and hand it to me. So she stepped up beside me placing her 2 different to-go orders (which she didn't know what she wanted). I mentioned to the lady running the front that my food was getting cold. Her response was, "it's under a warmer", I told her "that it isn't and it's sitting right there" (I pointed to it) She gave me "a look" and didn't acknowledge what I said. The cook asked one of the other ladies if they would bag up my food. I said to the collective whole who was behind the counter, "sorry I could just see it sitting there." As I was walking away.

After all that needless to say hamburger and fries weren't very good just due to getting more and more irritated as...
