Roberto's Real American Tavern — Restaurant in East Windsor

Most of the taps were borderline unreadable, I asked about one that was entirely blank - bartender didn't know how to describe it, but fortunately the menu had more information. After scouring the average-size beer selection to find something other than an IPA, I got a stout, on draft - $8. Silly me, I should be saving money by going to the strip club. I also got the sandwich of the day - a bison burger with caramelized onions. The onions were fried to the point of being a bit softened, but disappointingly, 0% caramelized. If any of the chefs want to get in touch, I can link to a few delightful youtube videos that explain what caramelizing is, and how to do it quickly and easily. The doneness options I got for the burger were "pink inside or no pink", so I asked for "little bit of pink". The delivered burger was dried out to a pallid gray with a sandy texture. Again, if a chef wants to get in touch, I can link them to a great youtube video on how to avoid that problem. Served alongside were fries, presumably sourced from the same lowest bidder that mcdonald's uses, only roberto's made the, um... choice? ...to not season them. This was my second time here! I took my parents here because I was raving about the Coffee Rub Gorgonzola Steak I had the first time I went! The food was even better the second time! My parents are super food critics and never like any of the places I take them! I come from a big culinary family. We are all super foodies. We started with Buffalo Chicken Deviled Eggs and Fried Cauliflower. Then I got Scallops over Risotto, my mom got the Coffee Steak I raved about, And my dad got the Full rack of Ribs! Before we even finished our food my parents where raving all over social media how awesome the food was! We already planned a night to come back with friends in a week or so! I live almost an hour away in the Berkshires and they live maybe 40 minutes away? It’s worth the drive! But next time we come we will call first to see if “Lucas” is working! Lucas was fantastic! We had a blast with him! He had a great sense of humor and was very professional and presentable! I’m a Salesman, I didn’t object to anything he recommended! I’m okay with saying “no!” We never get desert, he sold us on cheesecake and I will make sure to get it every time I go now! He also has a great taste in beers, and recommended me 2 phenomenal beers off the tap list! I can’t say enough good things about Lucas! We had a holiday event there for 50 people. They gave us 1 server. When we bookend it they said there was a bar upstairs where the room is. Yes there was a bar but the server would put order in computer than had to go downstairs to get the drinks. Took much too long . She worked her butt off and she was nice . We prepaid for food . They did not have enough plates for apps or dinner. We had to keep asking for more. There was no one to clean up our plates or empty glasses most of the night. When we spoke to the staff and manager they were extremely rude almost as if they were ignorin we had to say . He didn't even make eye contact. He said a girl would be up there and one girl came and cleaned a fiew dishes and that was it for the night . No one knew how to turn the lights on in our room when it got dark out . The room right outside ours had a large group before and the table was never cleaned till much later it the night. We had to walk by it all night . We also ended up going to the bar downstairs to get our drinks but that was not what we were told when book. Also was told we would have 2 servers.
