Southtowne Pub — Restaurant in Eau Claire

I wanted to like this bar SO BAD! My husband, my bestie, and I all went in to this bar on Tuesday, looking to let loose. The bartender immediately tried to act like my friend had a fake ID. Thankfully realizing she made a mistake, she went on to act super friendly with us.

The bartender had what seemed to be a connecting moment with me and my friend, we were dancing and living it up, being girls! It was brought to our attention that she used to be a dancer who was well known and successful apparently. My friend and I have been dancers for years and were excited to share in that with her.

Later on that evening, my husband stepped outside to smoke along side the bartender and another customer. My husband had asked her how she felt about advertisement for me and my friends business, i.e. free admittance business cards to our new building that she could give out to patrons. She really assumed that my husband was asking about solicitation!!!! And had the audacity to tell him "baby I think we both know what I'm talking about when I say less is more" looked at me and my friend, looked back at him, and winked.

Listen lady, not that its your business, but we are monogomous and my friend isnt sleeping with us, and you made my husband feel so uncomfortable that he never wants to return to this bar again.

And listen I get bartenders "flirt" but this was beyond flirtatious banter, and bordering "let me take you home so you only have me to sleep with because less is more" vibes. Customers, if you're married, this woman has no issue making wives feel like they're safe just to go to the smoking area to have inappropriate conversations with the husband while she thinks you aren't around.

We have several girls that love to drink and go out, weve been looking for a safe, clean and fun environment to hang out with the girls, and after that experience I think it's safe to say we will be taking our money to a different bar from now on.

Southtowne used to be my go-to bar when I lived on the Southside of town. I still stop in occasionally since I work close to there, great bar, very clean! New, and the bartenders are amazing. Usually* a quiet (people wise) chill bar. But you'll always get that big group that is loud and obnoxious every once in a while. Highly recommend if you need a wind down spot after work. The outdoor patio is fabulous, and if it isn't busy, the bartenders are more than willing to bring your drinks/refills out to you while on the patio!! If you're into gambling machines/slots there are regulars that come and play, I feel they payout fairly well, there is a little side room with 5 machines and an ATM for gamblers, the bathrooms are also new and very clean. The only way I wouldn't give this place 5 stars is if you go and it is busy... sometimes it takes the bartender awhile to get to you, but most are regulars so they can sometimes talk for a bit before you're served, but it's only to be expected anywhere you go, and I promise you won't be waiting...

Stopped in last week for my daughters birthday... The bartender said NO birthday shots only to complain that if they did it would have to come out of her tips...even though my daughter just turned 21...not to mention she never smiled n was very unfriendly...sorry we bothered...they didn't have anything we came for such as No lime vodka... No tequila rose... No birthday...
