My husband and I used to go to Mamasitas when they were in the old location. The food was good and service was good. That being said, we went last weekend to their new location which is in Chowan Crossing Shopping Center. We expected it to be even better with it being a new place-they renovated the restaurant before they moved their from the old one. I love cheese dip with my chips so I ordered that and I always get the tacos with hard shells. My husband had steak fajitas and ordered extra tortillas like he always does. Well we got the food super fast, at the old place it normally took at least 30 minutes but we got it in less than 15 minutes. The only thing that was hot was the fajitas. I ordered the Spanish rice to go with my tacos, and my tacos and rice were cold. My husband said his rice and refried beans were cold and the steak in his fajitas was tough. My cheese dip came out before the food, which was fine but it was barely warm when I got it and it had lumps in it like the cheese didn’t all melt. And looked like they added water or milk to it to maybe thin it up. Anyways the whole meal was horrible. The only good thing on the table was our two glasses of sweet tea. In addition, some people were parked close by and had a violin playing songs trying to panhandle money. Had the volume so loud that you could not hear each other talk. I was very upset and the surprised when a police officer walked right by and never told them to move on. I’m sorry but there are too many places in desperate need of employees that someone has to sit in their van and play music for money. I know times are tough but have some respect for restaurant customers that want to eat outside in peace and quiet. The whole experience was awful. Our server was very friendly and efficient. We said something about the food being cold and she never offered to try to give us a discount. We...
Read moreThis summer, I had the opportunity to eat at Mamasita's in Edenton, NC several times, and each visit was nothing short of fantastic! The restaurant serves authentic Mexican food, and the quality and flavour of every dish really stand out.
To start, I ordered the spinach dip, which was creamy, cheesy, and perfectly seasoned—just the right way to kick off the meal. For dinner, I couldn’t resist the Pollo San Miguel. The tender chicken breast was grilled to perfection and topped with a savoury mix of cooked onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, and bell peppers, all smothered in melted Jack cheese. It was served with Mexican rice, beans, and warm tortillas, creating a truly flavorful and hearty dish. The portion was generous and worth every penny. To drink, I had the Agua Horchata, a refreshing, cinnamon-spiced rice drink that paired wonderfully with the meal.
The ambiance at Mamasita’s is always welcoming and relaxed, with vibrant decor that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a little corner of Mexico. The service is consistently excellent, with friendly and attentive staff who are happy to make recommendations and ensure that every visit is enjoyable.
Whether you’re looking for a quick bite or a full meal, Mamasita’s delivers every time. I’ll definitely be coming back whenever...
Read moreEasily the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. If you’re from out of town and have had real Mexican you will be disgusted. Nachos had American cheese sauce on them, there was a mayonnaise sauce that came with shrimp tacos which was absolutely disgusting, the tres leches was a really bad cake with no “leches” whipped cream and had Jimmie’s on it 😂, the enchilada verda had this weird foamy green sauce on top which had no flavor and the chicken inside was dryer than the Sahara desert, rice under cooked, the Chile rellenos stuffed with American cheese. I could go on, but you get the point. I bet a little piece of the staffs soul dies each time a plate is served. Only saving while my mom agreed the food was disgusting, she said her shrimp were well cooked. Oh and the salsa is ihr the chips tasted like a cross between tomato sauce and salsa,...
