Delicious Dishes Restaurant — Restaurant in Edgewater Park Township

I really think the food is great here, but the employees that they hire will run this black owned business to the ground! I went to this establishment today. It is kind of like a buffet style restaurant so you start at the beginnings and you make your way down to the cash register as the employees are adding food to your platter. As I was making my way to the cash register at the end of the line, the cashier went down to the beginning of the line to start the customers platter that was behind me. I continue to patiently wait at the cash register to pay for my food for about 3 to 4 minutes. When the cashier finally returns she has the platter of the customer that was behind me in line. She says “hi what can I do for you”. I responded “yes I’m waiting to be rung out my food is right there already to go”. Her response is “oh OK I’m just gonna ring out the person that was behind you first because I didn’t know you were here.” I was totally dumbfounded that I had to clarify what she was saying. I asked “you’re ringing out the person behind me first when my food is right there ready to go?” She says “yes”. I don’t have too much patience when it comes to an illogical thought process. I ended up leaving without my food. I’ve been here multiple times and they are always very slow moving and unorganized. I’m always there for at least 20 minutes when it should not take that long. Like I said this place has great food, but the employees and the lack of organization will run this place...

Whenever my family comes here I always get the same thing:

Fried shrimp, potato salad and a mac and cheese with a beverage and either a small or large banana pudding.

Now I know what the other reviewers say about the mac, but I personally always enjoy it with some salt and pepper. Its really good! I don't know why people gotta hate 🤷🏽‍♀️.

The rest of the food is phenomenal! Fried shrimp is cooked perfectly and potato salad tasted amazing, Now this time around my folks picked up the food for the rest of us back at home, so im not sure if there's a sauce for the shrimp that they forgot. However, if there is I'll be sure to get it the next time I come around. Shrimp tastes great by itself nonetheless.

But the star of the show is always their banana pudding, Its honestly one of the best I've ever had from any establishment. I think they add pound cake in place of the usual cookies for their dessert here and if they do then give them an award!

After the end of my meal I'm always excited to have this banana pudding, its absolutely amazing and never disappoints. Always love coming here when I come back to college...

Shirley and her family provide excellent options whether you are looking for a quick bite or a large meal. The menu is diverse but is full of traditional and tasty staples. They always provide excellent customer service and do their best to be accommodating and communicative. Due to their location, they are obviously limited on interior space. The only change I would make would be to the flow of the customer line to provide a better customer experience and facilitate logical flow. There is partially underutilized counter space at the entryway where delivery orders are picked up. I would make this the beginning of the order counter and allow customers to form lines in this area as it is far more spacious. I would move the POS to the far end near the employee entrance. This would limit the amount of crowding in this more confined area. Currently, customers have to stand next to the bathroom, the tv, and the employee access to the kitchen area while waiting to order. This adds crowding, discomfort, and comes across as disorderly. Other than this; I always enjoy my food...
