La Lus Vegan Cafe — Restaurant in Beverly

My husband wanted to try this place. I did not order vegan chicken gizzards! This food was absolutely disgusting. I’ve eaten at plenty of vegan restaurants and I never! Oyster mushrooms are not supposed to look like this. These are double old, old mushrooms fried in old oil. The fact that they thought it was acceptable to even serve this to 2 customers is beyond me. They were soggy, oily and tangy. The Mac n cheese was bland, dry and flavorless, the yams were watery and flavorless too….just terrible. The only reason I didn’t bother calling and complaining is because when I shared it a friend of mine told me their bad customer service experience and I wasn’t about to lower my vibration to get on that level. Their business won’t last much longer, not just because the food is nasty but because if you’re unprofessional and rifling enough to plate this knowing it visibly isn’t right and serve it to a human to eat, your business will reap what it sows. Look at other pictures and you’ll see these are supposed to be served almost like chicken….lightly crispy and golden brown. This trash with 2 juices cost $40, if you got that to gamble with go ahead and try it, but if you don’t look at this picture and think about them toilet bowl chances you’ll be taking because again they obviously don’t care what they serve to their customers. The cheesesteak was good & flavorful but it is either Beyond Meat or Impossible Meat which is fine, I buy that all the time but it was hard to taste cheesesteak & not a burger. The fries were undercooked and there were like 8 fries in my to go container. For what they charge I expect more. The cheesesteak was very small too. I normally only go to Blackbird in Philly for the vegan cheesesteak because they are by far the best around but I thought I'd try this place out. I will try other things on the menu because I'm curious. Oh, and I got navy bean soup and it was horrible. Not what I was expecting & very uncomplimentary seasonings. The food was AMAZING at La Lu's Café. I had the Spinach Falafel wrap with the Cucumber Salad. It was hearty, flavorful and a lil spicy.....I ❤️ it😁 I also purchased the Mango Ginger juice and it was a sweet surprise. The ginger was not overpowering and although the drink was sweet it was not overwhelmingly so. My companion had the Fried Un-Chick'n and boy oh boy was it TASTY it came with green beans and Mac n Cheese which were also outstanding and very flavorful. Two sauces were served on the side which were each spicy and sweet. I can't forget the Ginger Sorrel which again not spicy or overly sweet. We will definitely return for more.
