I would like to say when I first read the reviews below about the service, I truly thought there was no possible way it could genuine be bad. I want to say apart from how my family felt about the food, I did indeed think it was good. It wasn’t the meal of a lifetime but it was good, but the mistakes, mix-ups and severe attitude problems is the reason I have to leave a one star. That star would’ve been two if we weren’t brought cloudy water in a tea pot where the waiter explained “it’s suppose to be that way,” then we showed him another teapot where the water is clear and he hastily took it back. We asked for three lamb chops, he brought us two, they brought us the wrong dessert, same moment we asked for a second dessert of the right one they brought, waited 20 mins, waiter is arguing with us it was 8-9 mins. I asked for steamed milk for my latte, he took 10 mins and sent a sweet bus boy (man) to help us, he scoffed off in annoyance. Not once, not one apology and I could deal with the slow service and getting our desserts wrong the first time, forgetting entrees then arguing I thought your grandmas were sharing a half a rack of lamb. He told us he took off the dessert (we never got) and a macchiato as well as tea (because she asked for earl grey, came back 10 mins later to tell her we only have English breakfast and ended up bringing her green tea.. I cannot even make this up), 9 dollars off to make up for wait staff that when you try to flag them down they ignore you, but if do it at least 4 times. They’ll notice or force themselves to notice on the 4th. We ask another waitress who is also assisting our table for an eta on anything, attitude. If eye rolling was a sport, the staff here would win gold all around. Then when I got the bill for our 7 people, I saw the 20% already added gratuity and realized why they don’t care to actually provide good service if they are guaranteed 20%. Always saw 18% automatic gratuity, my first time seeing 20, (also my first time not seeing it on the menu beforehand but that’s whatever, because that’s not going to shy me away from eating somewhere but the principle stands, mandatory gratuity is not a free pass to provide lackluster service) I then ask the manager to come over. I didn’t even need the 20% changed even though it irked me to my core to tip well for people that made what otherwise would’ve been a great Mother’s Day, a terrible experience, I just wanted an apology for poor service over the course of 3 hours and he told us “he begs to differ and respectfully disagrees ” on our experience, even though he spent the entire time running around on a busy holiday to barely notice us or even check in. Imagine telling someone the experience you had, someone who wasn’t with you and they tell you that they respectfully disagree. The other reviews are not lying when they are saying the service here is bad, do not come here with a large party, there is no guarantee you will be treated well and I promise you, if you aren’t, you won’t even receive at the very least an apology. But if you do come and order tea, make sure the water isn’t cloudy.
Additional edit - please read the responses from the owners or whoever handles their social media imprint, and make up your own minds on whether I and others are lying about the service. Their responses to these negative reviews validate the negatives themselves.
Also I don’t expect perfection, mistakes are made by everyone every day but what I never expect nor tolerate are attitude problems from staff (except the bus boy, someone give him a raise, such a nice man) and the manager. But because I always like to say something nice, the views and the restaurant is quite beautiful and the food (minus the tea water) was good, pat the line cooks on the back, they’re holding this...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Taverna Veranda, and I must say it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I contacted the restaurant at the last minute, their exceptional service began to shine through.
After another restaurant refused to accommodate me adding one more person to my reservation, I started to panicked. However, the staff at Taverna Veranda responded promptly and with great professionalism.
To my surprise and delight, Bruno graciously accommodated my last-minute request and assured me that they would be able to accommodate a party of 10. This level of flexibility and willingness to go the extra mile immediately won me over.
Upon arriving at Taverna Veranda, we were promptly seated at a beautiful table in the center of the restaurant. The ambiance was simply breathtaking, with the stunning views of the NYC skyline serving as a backdrop to our dining experience.
The service at Taverna Veranda was impeccable. The waiters were attentive, friendly, and ensured that our drinks were never empty. Their professionalism and warmth added to the overall enjoyment of the evening, making us feel welcomed and cared for throughout the meal.
Speaking of the meal, the prefixed menu provided us with a family-style feast that left us more than satisfied. The portions were incredibly generous, and absolutely delicious. What impressed us even more was the fact that there were plenty of leftovers, which we happily took home. It's rare to find a restaurant that offers such abundance and value.
One aspect that stood was the vibrant vibe and the excellent choice of music. The atmosphere was lively and enjoyable. It was evident that Taverna Veranda takes great care in curating a memorable experience for their guests.
Throughout the evening, Bruno checked on our table several times, ensuring that everything was to our satisfaction. His attentiveness and genuine care made us feel like VIP guests, and we truly appreciated the personal touch he brought to our dining experience.
From the moment I contacted them last minute, to the warm welcome, the impeccable service, the delectable food, and the overall ambiance, every aspect of this restaurant exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Taverna Veranda for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience that combines excellent cuisine, stunning views, and...
Read moreAmazing location, great views, delicious food. Customer service is not at its best. The manager/owner is unprofessional, poor people’s skills. We wanted to have a girl’s night out. Made reservations for 7 people. While we were having dinner we had 2 other girls who came and joined us. Right away the manager notified us if it’s 8 people or more we must order from the prefix menu. The ladies wanted to come by for drinks. His comment killed the whole vibe but he let it slide that time. As soon as the waiters took our order they told us right off the bat that the main dishes will come out together with the appetizers and emphasized that it’s usually a customary thing in every restaurant, which is false because we usually go out as a big group of people and on the contrary we get asked if we want appetizers and main courses at the same time or separately. Then some girls went outside for fresh air and to mingle and twice the manager and waiter came outside to let the girls know the food was getting cold. At that point the impression that we got is that we are getting rushed. It was already around 10:30 pm and their pushy demeanor was a big turn-off for us. At the end of the night when most of the customers had left we wanted to take pictures because they have beautiful decor with flowers in some corners of the restaurant. As soon as we got on the couch the manager/owner ran us to us like a mad man demanding for us to come down because we will ruin his couch. That’s exactly how he verbalized it. He could’ve let us finish taking a picture but he stood in the middle of the scene yelling at us. He could’ve handled it in a better professional way but instead was very rude. Very sad that poor customer service out shadowed something that could’ve turned out to be a pleasant evening with friends and delicious food. After all we spent significant amount of money and the manager could’ve been nicer. Another downside, they do have a DJ but people are not permitted to dance even by...
