This is one of the food vendors at Mitsuwa Marketplace. The food court is behind the checkout lines, and it is pretty large. There are room to move around, but not so much with shopping carts or strollers. For those people with a lot to carry, it is safer to stay on the outer edges of the food court. There are good amount of seating, although it can never be enough. Especially at a popular spot, there are always people looking around, waiting for a seat to become available. Hannosuke specializes in tempura bowl (donburi), so of course that is what we ordered. We got Edomae Tendon and Original Tendon. They both came with miso soup and ginger. The sauce on the donburi was rather sweet, much sweeter than I expected. It wasn’t bad, but it was kind of overpowering a bit. The fried egg was nice, cooked just right to give us the egg porn. Another interesting item on the donburi was the seaweed. It was just half way tempura-ed, providing interesting mix of texture. At the first glance, I thought the bowls were a bit small, but after eating them, we were pretty full. A donburi with rice can really fill you up. We were happy with the food, and with the price. They also have tempura and soba sets, I would like to try them too. They are CASH ONLY so don't forget to bring some cash. Hannosuke ✅ If you like tempura, and anything fried similar to tempura, you must try this place, their tempura and fried veggies bowl is the best! Be ready for wait time varies from 30-60 mins, depends on which day and time you’re there, and remember to pay attention to your number so you can eat them as crunchy and crispy as they should. My order was: original tendon set #1 and assorted tempura #23. Both tempura are satisfying good and the crispy crunch very addictive! My lil one said the broccoli tempura is bumpy and tasted like chicken. You got 3 side dishes for each set of food you ordered, the egg, miso soup and pickle salad. You can order directly at the kiosk, or order on the tab they provided in front of the kiosk. Don’t forget to get rewards points each time you order. 📍595 River Rd, Edgewater NJ 07020 Floor 1 of Mitsuwa Supermarket. ⏰ daily 11.30AM - 07.30PM 🚾 available inside the supermarket building. ♿️ accessible for both 🅿️ parking lot around the building #hannosuke #tempura #preservefootprints

One of the better tempura places around although I truly miss the presentation of the food prior to COVID-19. I put up a picture from 2015 to show presentation then. You place an order and can take home but this food doesn’t do well as takeout. It does much better if you can eat it in the common dining space or if you’re uncomfortable with that just bring it back to your car and eat it there. The crispness of the tempura fry is what you desire and that suffers if you wait too long to eat this. So the best way to enjoy dishes from this place shuts as soon as you get your order from the kitchen. It’s not as enjoyable otherwise. The food takes about 10-15 minutes to cook and longer if the place is busy. They have gotten better with post pandemic packaging as well. They have switched to plastic containers from the styrofoam containers and they cut vent holes in the plastic cover top now.

I have been a customer for the last seven years. Today (4/1/21), I can say I will never come back.

The flavor profile of the tendons they offer is not bad, but the fried toppings generally lack the necessary crisp mouthfeel. Onsendamago, however, is almost always cooked to perfection, with the runny yolks.

The customer service truly plummeted over the last year. While I understand that it is difficult for a restaurant to live through the pandemic period, it should be noted that a cashier must maintain civil interactions toward the customer.

The last time I came to this place, which was about three weeks ago, I handed out my ticket upon receiving my food, to which the cashier responded tersely, "I don't need that." Today, however, when I was about to pick up the food, she told me, "Sir, where is your ticket?" Since I had assumed she would not need the ticket, I had crumpled it and kept it in my pocket. As I was unraveling the ticket, she was yelling at me, saying, "Hurry! Hurry!"

Then, when I got home with the food, I noticed that she had messed up my order, by leaving out one of the two tendon bowls I had ordered. I must also let you know that I was only the third order of the day. Therefore, I went back to the restaurant, and asked if they could remake the order, since some 45 minutes had gone by since I picked up the food, and the food had become cold. Two minutes later, she came back, evidently with the food microwaved to warm it up. Infuriated but fed up with having wasted an hour with this food debacle, I decided not to bother the subject any further. I could not help but think that I wasted $30 to eat a microwaved, rubbery, and soggy tempura rice bowl.

Never...

First of all , I don't normally write up any review and especially any negative comments as I understand it is not easy running a business now .

a story short, just passed by this place after work ONLY for their tempura done (DINE IN).

they gave me in a paper take-out box. I told them i ordered DINE in NOT take-out. they said--oh...we went out of tray and bowl but it is the same food inside...well...presentation matters that is why I came all the way for fresh cooked fried food.

I opened it...food was small portion and messy like a leftover doggie bag. I took the food back to the counter politely. They still said it is the same thing and "what do you want me to do , sir..."

I TOLD them if you guys went out of tray and rice bowl. Asked me if you still want my food as "take-out", don't just pack my fried food in a box.. it will get steamed soft right away.

they gave me my refund , I thought it was it..

a few minutes later, the old guy ordered after me.. magically, his food was in a bowl but NOT mine..

I came for their food and I walked away with NO food from them and full disappointment sorry WONT...
