This is one of the food vendors at Mitsuwa Marketplace. This one is located next to the windows, all the way to the right in the food court. The food court is behind the checkout lines, and it is pretty large. There are room to move around, but not so much with shopping carts or strollers. For those people with a lot to carry, it is safer to stay on the outer edges of the food court. There are good amount of seating, although it can never be enough. Especially at a popular spot, there are always people looking around, waiting for a seat to become available.
The great thing about Japanese restaurants is that many of them have a display of their dishes, made with wax. With them, you can see what the food is going to look like before you order. We ordered Fried Oyster Plate and Pork Cutlet Don.
Fried Oyster Plate came with side of rice, miso soup, pickles, salad, edamame, three dipping sauces, and an orange wedge. I think getting all of these items for under $10 was a steal! The Katsudon came with miso soup and pickles. They were both good size, we got full after the meal. It was the perfect comfort food on a weekend.
They have a free water section next to the ordering/receiving counter, so if you don't want to order a drink, you can just get some water.
Affordable, tasty Japanese comfort food, and at the same time, you can get your grocery shopping done. They are CASH ONLY so don't forget to bring some cash with you. Read my full review of the restaurant and food on my food blog,...
Read moreWow, I can't believe during all my visits to Mitsuwa I have never tried this place in the food court! I ordered the beef udon that comes with an onsen egg (nikutameten udon) on their touchscreen tablet. I wandered around the food court and supermarket as I waited for my food to be prepared before my number was called.
All I can say is wow! The flavor of the soup was so simple but also slightly sweet, I'm not sure what exactly the flavor was but it was so good. One order was definitely filling enough. A few beef slices with lots of grated yam or radish on the side. The udon noodles also tasted quite fresh as it didn't have an alkaline taste to it.
My brother got the chicken cutlet curry rice and it was a quite a generous portion. The curry spice tasted just mild to me so not spicy at all. The chicken cutlet was crispy outside and tender...
Read moreI love that they have a self checkout station here. There were 7 groups in front of me waiting to order for dinner time—normally that means a long wait. I waited a little and decided to check around for seats and that’s when I found the self checkout screen NEXT to the register where everyone orders. So instead of waiting in line for 20 minutes and not being able to see the menu because people are blocking it, you can see the items at the self checkout screen. My order came out in under 10 minutes. That means under 15 minutes to get your food AT MITSUWA. In the past, the Mitsuwa food court has been a nightmare but this makes it easy, quick, and even more enjoyable than before....
