Woodreaux's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Edinburg

The restaurant has potential but the food was bland except for the charro beans.

My chips were half crunchy and half stale, I was starving so I kept eating them but when one of the servers asked how my food was I mentioned the stale chips. She went ahead and told me she was going to replace them and I was ok with that but then she came back to tell me that the cook had said that they just made the batch of chips so they couldn’t replace them… honestly, I used to work at a Mexican restaurant and sometimes the chips there were just not fried long enough and people would complain about them being stale (I think that’s what happened here) … what i actually thought was weird is that the waitress brought the chips back.

Fortunately she said she could take them off my tab, I would’ve probably still paid for them even though they were stale.

On another note, I wish I’d taken pictures, I had the fish tacos, they were bland, I was given about 3 small pieces of cut fish that of which had more breading than fish.

Also, the first waiter (maybe is new) when I sat down I was sitting there waiting to be helped. When he helped me I asked for a water but I had to ask for a menu since he didn’t bring one and almost immediately asked me what I was going to order. He also kept telling me to let him know when I was ready to order/pay… but I wasn’t able to do that because he came around once or twice very briefly — the other waiters seemed to be picking after him … sorry I seriously hate sounding like a Karen but he could use some training from the other waiters.

I use to be a waitress/bartender in Downtown Dallas and definitely know the hustle of working in the industry.

Did I mention this was my first time eating here? Well…I’d passed by the restaurant for almost 10 years and had been curious about it, I have checked it off my bucket list. Highly disappointed but willing to give it another try maybe it was...

First impressions matter and I am never coming back. I went with a group of co-workers in a group of 17. We arrived around 11:45 and they had no trouble seating us as a group but they only had enough menu's for 10 of us so the rest had to share or wait until one of us was ready to order until they could even look at the menu. My ticket was opened at 11:53 AM and my Alligator bites appetizer (it was OK) came about 1 hour later. My meal came out right after they closed my ticket at 1:10 PM. I had the Cajun Sasage (their spelling) and Shrimp. It was good but didn't make up for the extremely slow service. I had to pack up my own order to go (we asked them to make them to go as we had to return to work at 1:00 PM) but they just brought them out on plates. Mine was one of the last at about one hour and fifteen minutes after ordering.

One meal never came out before we had to leave and they stated they would refund it (because many of us paid before receiving the food in order to leave faster) but 5 days later and it has not been refunded. Another meal was ordered as a plain and dry burger and we saw them bring it out with lettuce, pickles and tomato on it, then they realized shortly before arriving at the table and they returned to the kitchen and came back a few minutes later with the same burger and bun just without the veggies. The bun and burger still had the residue and odor of the removed veggies and had to be sent back.

Overall this reminds me of the restaurants that Chef Gordon Ramsey comes in to fix. The menu is a odd mix of Cajun and Mexican food, they don't have enough menu's for more than 10 people, they can't handle groups, they weren't very friendly or apologetic, the food is nothing special and the atmosphere reminds me of a cheap bar. The bathrooms are filthy and falling apart and the entire place could use a makeover. I will not ever be returning and most, if not all of my group...

If i can give this place 0 stars i would, The worst experience of my life i went on saturday with my husband and 2kids one of them is a newborn and is handicap so we can not leave the house for long periods of time, So went we there they took around 10min to even acknowledge us (i was patient) then got our drinks and i told the waiter i was going to order for my daughter already shes a toddler so she cam start eating so after wards he gets our order then this huge party of like 16people got there and as soon as i saw that i told my husband lets just leave cause there probably going to serve them first (i’ve had bad experiences here before thats why i knew they would do this) my husbands says no were ganna stay so literally one hour passes by and no food i tell my husband again lets leave but he was hungry then i see they start bringing food out for that huge party of 16 and then i call the waiter over and address the issue and he says well its ganna be another 30min until food is ready at this point it had been 1 1/2 hrs already so i tell my husband get up lets leave and waiter says u have to pay your drinks i tell my husband he will not pay for them (oh and also waiter never offered refills) so we get up and leave then the waiter follows us outside with his pad to charge us and the owner comes outside and yells to the waiter LET THEM GO THERE NOT WORTH IT ( damm i couldnt beleive it after years of going to eat there the owner treated us this way) iam so disgusted by the owners behavior like common who does that not even an apology !!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AMD HORRIBLE OWNER THAT DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO TREAT HIS...
