La Bagel — Restaurant in Edison

I've been coming here for 5 + years. The customer service I've received today is absolutely not acceptable. They smile at you first but if you have an issue with your order they argue with you. Why? really? I ordered white fish sandwich, lettuce and tomato. waited in line, paid then go to work. Once I was ready to eat my sandwich I noticed that it was a THIN SPREAD of whit fish with lettuce and tomato and bread. Not a white fish sandwich. So I went back. The guy started to argue with me saying ''You should know we don't have a lot of white fish''...Really? I DONT WORK HERE! Then he said, that'' I put one scoop on it and that's how it always is'' I had it last week and I had no problems, now its wrong. So he then said '' this time it was a bigger bread that's why its like this'' REALLY dude? Okay, I wasn't going to stand there like some kind of bad person or a beggar. He kept coming up with excuses. He simply should of said,'' We put one scoop and per every additional scoop we can charge you X amount of money'' HE DID Not DO THAT. HE DID NOT MAKE ME ANOTHER ONE AND DID NOT TRY TO ACCOMIDATE . Listen, I just go in to get my breakfast at least make it right and don't tell me that you don't have enough inventory and that is why its like that. THEN DONT OFFER IT FOR SALE. I am not paying for bread and lettuce. RIDICULOUS. NEVER COMING BACK AGAIN and my co workers feel the same. I took my money back and that's...

Beware: If you are ok with a food establishment that kicks bagels around as if they were in a soccer tournament.

I have gone in weekly to get bagels for my office and continue to witness rude behavior from employees taking orders. But just recently I have noticed that they lack cleanliness. Walked in on Friday to pick up bagels and witnessing bagels getting kicked around was absolutely appalling. When I asked staff about this, her response was even more appalling. She simply said that it was not my problem and that I should mind my business. I grabbed my bagels and disposed of them when I got into the office.

Decided to give them a another try and once again it was a bad experience. Ordered 6 sandwiches, when asked her to repeat order, she rudely responded that she got my order and refused to repeat it. Order was picked up and sure enough, sandwiches were missing items or made incorrectly and we were 1 sandwich short. Called in and person who answered phone was not apologetic at all, just said she would give me the items that were missing from sandwiches and that I can put them on to sandwiches myself, when asked about incorrect sandwiches she again said ok and moved on. As for the missing sandwich she told me I would need to reorder it and pay for...

I'm really torn about this review because I've been to this restaurant a total of three times. The first time was a few years ago and I don't remember loving it. But, upon a few recommendations more recently, I decided to give it another try. In the past couple weeks, I came here twice and both experiences were different. The first time I came, the bagel was really amazing; it had a crispy outside and soft inside, it was large in size, and tasted very fresh. The second time, I came back, again around the same time in the morning, and the bagel was smaller and not as crispy or fluffy. Both times I ordered the same thing which was an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. Even the cream cheese was different the second time...there were barely any scallions the second time and the cream cheese just tasted very plain.

I'm confused about the consistency of the two experiences but I'll be back again since it's so close to where I live, I think I'll give it a few more tries before I decide to either become a loyal customer or abandon hopes of it being good, consistently.

This earned three stars from me purely because I did really enjoy my bagel the first time. I am hoping the second time was a fluke and that the bagels will be really fresh again next...
