This was my 1st time here and I ordered "Brown Sugar Creme Puffs" to go. It was almost $8 in total for 2 small puffs.
To be honest, I had problems from the moment I wanted to order. It was my 1st time going in (my friend told me that this was a chain from HK) so I decided to visit myself. I guess because I didn't order immediately, the cashier left to take seated customers orders, which I totally understand. So at this point I am just standing there and staff come out from the back and they see me, but completely ignore me. Okay, I get it if they are the kitchen staff, but one of them turned out to be the manager or something, so she could have totally stopped what she was doing and just asked if I have been helped or what not instead of making me wait more. If your 1 staff for the whole floor is busy, maybe you should stop what else you are doing and help the floor.
Okay, then I order, which was not an issue, but, five minutes pass and I am like where is my creme puffs. I have never had to wait for baked goods before. Typically, they are just grab and go. Multiple customers order came out before mine, so I turned to the guy who ordered after me and got his drink already to get the DL. He's been here before and he's like yeah they do it to order and I was so surprised.
This is because it's impossible to do creme puffs or cake pieces to order. It would take almost a hour to do that because after baking there is also cooling, but then he's like I have been before, trust me it's worth it. He's then saying it's different from Paris Baguette, which is more grab and go and not freshly made essentially. At this point, I am thinking maybe they are baking the shell and inserting the creme.
After almost 15 minutes, I finally asked and was told that creme puffs take longer because they have to "toast" them. At this point I am still thinking oh wow it's really fresh then, albeit a little annoyed because I had just wanted to grab something and leave. The waitress made no mention of this to me when I ordered and I was gotten a cake - which supposedly is faster - if I were told this.
So after the 3 customers who ordered after me got there food I finally got mine. Packaging was cute. LOL, but the puffs were so small, especially considering they are almost 4 bucks a pop.
They I bite into it...not warm at all even though they said they said they were toasting it. I continue eating....the center is still solid and cold. This was true for both my puffs.
So, at this point, it's finally clicked that "toasting" is just fancy business lingo for we are defrosting it for you to order.
Indeed, this place is not like Paris Baguette. At least at PB, they have enough foot traffic so that they can pre-defrost things for you and not make you wait an excessive amount of time for to-order defrosting. Oh, also PB actually can proper defrost things and doesn't charge you a mark up.
People, if you think this place is fresh, you are out of your mind, because that is absolutely NOT possible. They are essentially defrosting things to order in order to maximize shelf life.
If you really really like durian and mango, sure go on right in. But, I hate durian and I hate mushy / soupy dessert, so this place is not my cup of tea. They do have desserts that at least require assembly (HK style desserts - which again I am not a fan), which are perhaps worth it for the atmosphere and sit down tables - and of course the effort of assembly. It's a nice place to sit down and share dessert (prolly would help if you liked durians and mango).
I personally rather spend my...
Read moreThis review is my second “to go” order; It’s my second time coming here. I actually ended up here because I didn’t realize that HK Alley ( another bubble shop) is closed on Mondays, and Mango Mango is 0.1miles away. I ordered their signature bubble tea with slightly more than 25% sugar at Mango . Although it was very busy, my drink took only a few quick minutes to make AND it tasted pretty good. Unlike my other experience at another bubble tea shop in Edison, the woman at the register was very polite and kind. This sweet drink had a floral taste ( hard to describe). It was a very unique and special “signature” flavor. Bubbles were good- not the best I’ve had, but slightly above average for sure. I love the cup it comes in. The experience is worth over $6.50 I paid, and so I gladly tipped. Customer service was great. I asked the person at the register for a fork since I lost mine and I needed one for my lunch & believe it or not, she was kind enough to give it to me even though lunch was from elsewhere ( mi casa). No questions asked. I’ll definitely be coming here again. There is plenty of parking and it’s across from H Mart & Paris Baguette. Next time I will try the coconut cream latte.
Dear business owners: don’t underestimate the value of your customer service, ambiance, AND charity ( I work for a local NJ nonprofit servicing refugees and clients in need). It can all do so much. It will not only make us, (the customer) come back, but will also encourage us recommend it to others and bring additional people to your...
Read moreMango Mango in Edison, NJ has completely redefined what dessert means to me. I’m not a dessert person by any stretch — I usually avoid sweets altogether — but this place changed everything. The magic lies in the fact that their desserts aren’t overwhelmingly sugary. They strike the perfect balance: rich in flavor but light on sweetness, which I truly appreciate.
As the name suggests, most of their creations revolve around mango — and if you’re a mango lover, this is nothing short of paradise. I’ve tried quite a few items here and every single one blew me away:
Mango Mille Crepe Cake — hands down the BEST of them all. Soft, creamy, and bursting with mango flavor in every bite. Brule Mille Crepe Cake — a delightful fusion of texture and taste. Mango Pancake — light and fluffy with a creamy mango filling. Tiramisu — surprisingly excellent, even in a mango-forward place. Mango Mousse Cake and Mango Passionfruit Mousse Cake — airy, smooth, and just the right tang. Magnum Chocolate — rich and indulgent without being overly sweet.
Each dessert was crafted with care and attention to detail — nothing felt mass-produced or overly commercialized. The presentation is beautiful, and the taste is even better.
I highly, highly recommend Mango Mango to anyone — whether you're a dessert fanatic or, like me, someone who usually steers clear of sweets. You might just walk out with a new favorite place. This is easily the best dessert experience I’ve had in a...
