I decided to give this place a try based on the reviews, and it's closer to me than where I normally go. I have to say I was not impressed. I ordered a hashbrown burrito, no ham, add beans, and it came out to just under 13 dollars. I should have gone to my usual Chuys off El Cajon Blvd for a breakfast burrito. This didn't have very much hashbrown in it at all, and the size was rather small for the cost as at my other spot, it's a big burrito for about the same price. The red sauce was ok, not the best flavor but better than not having any at all. I will most likely try something different if I give this place another shot and see if we can bump the stars up for the next visit. I like the small feel of this place, and the girl working the counter was super nice, and the cook was cool too. Hopefully, a carne asada burrito will be bigger. All I can do is...
Read moreChuy's is a small Mexican restaurant with very limited seating for a quick bite. It was clean and brightly lit inside, very contemporary. One of the ceiling lights glares off the menu though, so the menu either needs to be tilted or that light does.
Service was quick and the food came out within 10 minutes which is great when your lunch time is limited.
I had the Hash Brown Breakfast Burrito and it was good, albeit a little unevenly distributed (which seems like a universal thing with burritos; find yourself someone who does distribute the fillings of a burrito evenly and you make sure you never, ever, let them go). Had the green salsa and it was good; it had good amount of acidicness to balance the salt and fat of the burrito.
Good place for lunch and a little more affordable than a lot of other places. I'll be back to try the fish burrito...
Read moreStopped in today for the first time and ordered a chicken tequila lime burrito. The flavors all came together nicely but what was really unique about this burrito was that while it was filling and satisfying, I felt comfortably full, not bloated, after eating it. The chicken was moderately spicy, but there were two kinds of salsa offered, in addition to guac, if I wanted some more heat. The green peppers, onions, and rice were cooked to perfection, and the cilantro made a nice seasoning. The portion was generous without being absurd, as some shops do in exchange for genuine flavor. Staff were friendly and, though preparing my good from scratch, had my food ready in under 8 minutes. A great meal, and I'll be back to try some of the other...
