Rita's Mexican Food — Restaurant in El Cajon

Just finished eating our 1st order from Ritas! Oh man! I have lived in SD and El Cajon my whole life and haven't had better Mexican food. We live very close to this place and never tried it until now. I've been missing out. I'll be going back for sure. I loved the cheese enchilada. It wasn't rubbery but nice smooth melted cheese. The sauce didn't taste like the same canned stuff every body else uses. Lots of fresh lettuce and tomatoes and tons of options to add on to your food. The rolled tacos were tender and lots of meat. You don't chip a tooth eating the ends! My husband had one of the mini Carne Asada tacos and love it as well. Beans were tasty and fresh, lots of cheese on top. Our delivery was fast, and everything was packed very well for travel. I like that they wrapped the taco from the taco, enchilada plate separately so it didn't get soggy in the sauce. The container with the sauce was wrapped in saran wrap to prevent spills. Very clever. Hot sauce was awesome both the red and the green, I'm I making you hungry yet? You need to try this...

Today is the first time I have ever walked out Rita's, without ordering. I ordered then before completing the told the young lady to forget it, I will go elsewhere. I had ordered a Flying Saucer without Guacamole or Sour Cream. Instead of shredded beef or chicken, I wanted ground beef. I was told that would be an up charge. So I asked "do I get a credit for the Guacamole and Sour Cream?" To which I was flatly told "No!" Hence I left! A shredded beef taco and a ground beef taco are the same price...but to exchange them is an up charge? All the years or should I say decades, I have always ordered without Guacamole and Sour Cream and never even considered asking for a credit. But to up charge from shredded beef, to ground beef...is absolutely ridiculous! I could understand this if ground beef was not already on their menu.

Do not get me wrong, Rita's Mexican food is absolutely worth going for. I just will never again order a Flying Saucer. I will just place the same order that I always have, no trying...

Where ONCE Upon a time , ( a Long time ago ) Rita's was Top notch in Every way

NOT ANYMORE !! Cooks ( that the management Swears are Always Age old employees ) that Don't know Beans ( No Pun intended ) about how to produce the menu, and a management team of All liars

The Head manager ,Christine , who Used to be Very prompt about making wrings right, Now, refuses to even call back to address issues,instead Blaming the Often Lack of Great food and service on the customer who makes the complaint known.
