Pizza Xpress — Restaurant in El Cajon

If a member of the management team could reply to this review it would best. Attempts at obtaining contact information to provide some feedback were refused by current manager onsite. Current manager on site advises there is no further escalation past him.

3 separate phone calls were made to this location in an effort to place a pick up order. Last call attempt manager answered, asked to place me on hold and never picked up the phone. The ten minutes I was on hold was equal to the travel time to reach this establishment. Upon arrival , I frustratedly let them know they've had me on hold the entire time Nd can hang up their call since I'm here. That some sort of communication could have been made regarding wait time. Also notable that upon arrival there were zero customers at the location. Apparently they don't know how to take phone orders/multi task. Manager onsite. Or individual referring to himself as manager refused to provide ide any contact information to escalate the issue. Other worker on site decided to escalate the issue and also offer her unnecessary input. Claiming that I had been giving her attitude upon arrival and that manager was protecting her. Mind you the entire exchange was with manager. Unfortunately seems like team members at this location are not well trained. Have poor communication skills and an Inability to multi task. Price is great, speed is great, quality was bad unfortunately.

I order wings, cheesy bread, cheesecake, and a soda on a Wednesday morning; keep that in mind because this place has great reviews and I think I just ordered at a bad time for their staff or the turnover of their items.

Wings - like biting into gelatin, soft, big globs of fat, as if they were softly boiled, a few bites and I was done.

Cheesy bread - Very very greasy, but the taste was pretty good and I did finish them; would not recommend over other cheese bread options from competitors.

Cheesecake - ordered the raspberry cheesecake, it must be unpopular because mine looked like it had been sitting for a while; yellow discoloration, cheesecake was warming and soft and almost melty, syrup on top had jellied and the cake had a strong cheese scent and flavor - one bite and I put it down.

Soda - Ordered a bottled diet coke, received a regular coke.

Updated from 3 stars to 5 stars. Originally, I ordered two large pepperoni pizzas and a pepperoni deep dish, but I was given a cheesy bread instead of the deep dish. The cheesy bread was actually very good, but we almost didn't have enough food for everyone. Obviously I should have checked before I carried it out, but I was in a hurry. The large pepperoni pizzas were well worth the $5 each.

Pizza Xpress contacted me after my review and offered to the deep dish (see picture...definitely a lot more food that the cheesy bread). Service was great this time and the food was tasty like last time. Must have had someone new working the first time.
