Mariscos La Bola — Restaurant in El Cajon

Visited this place today to get my fix for a shrimp cocktail. Had a fish taco as well. The lady who rang me up was polite and kind.

The shrimp cocktail was good and the price was fair. Parking here is very limited and expect to circle the block or park a short distance away.

Four stars because the shrimp cocktail had a lot of tajin (or some other spice seasoning) that took away from the traditional shrimp cocktail flavor. Almost as if I were eating some churros locos.

The shrimp was properly butterflied and clean. That said, the shrimp was a bit over cooked and a little spongy. Moreover, the drink variety was limited to sangria and apple soda. Somewhat disappointing.

However, the coctel was still good. The fish taco was the star of the show though. Well battered and well plated. I didn’t try the other tacos, but the pictures looked good. I’ll be back to sample the rest.

The food is really good. I love the civiche tostada. The fish tacos are awesome too. My complaint is with the truck actually being there. They have set hours but at least 3 times I have come and they have not been here. Today is an an example, hours run from 9 till 6 and it is 10:10 and they are barely showing up. The service is ok. One of the ladies is rude. I placed a big order once and she complained to me that I asked for 4 sauce containers. They aren't big and it was for several people. They also have a number listed but don't always answer. If you are in the area stop in but if you aren't then I would definitely call ahead just to be certain that they are...
