I've been here mutiple times and have always had a great experience but tonight was different. I ordered online for a pick up which I've only ever done dine in. I was treating myself to a birthday dinner. I got there and was feeling very anxious as I have anxiety and panic disorder. I came in used the bathroom, no one greeted me. I came out and sat down too stressed out to ask about my order as I was on the verge of panicking and felt like I may pass out. I was waiting for someone....ANYONE to approach me and ask if I'd been helped after I sat at a table but no one did despite there being mutiple employees walking in an out of the area. I usually have no problem approaching people but tonight was a different story because of my anxiety. They could only be bothered to help the 2 girls sitting infront of me which btw were employees. Everyone just stared at me. I won't make assumptions but I will say could it be cause I'm white? Everyone else pulls the race card so why can't I? I left and called the restaurant. I said "I have a pick up order I'm not sure if it's ready" the guy who answered the phone literally just said "yeah" in an irritated tone. Didn't ask for my name or anything, I had to give it to him. I asked if he could bring it outside since I was on the verge of a panic attack, he asked if i was the one in pink so he clearly saw me. No empthy at all he just agreed to bring it out which I'm thankful for and he did tell me to have a goodnight after I said it to him so that's something, but I probably won't be back unless the situation can be fixed. There are plenty of yummy Mexican restaurants in the area that are friendly to all races like Baja Tacos for instance. Good Customer service goes a long way and tonight I just didn't feel like I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI heard about this place from word of mouth and decided to give it a try. Arrived about 2:30 pm on a Sunday Afternoon, there seemed to be more people waiting to be seated than actually sitting and eating. The staff quickly informed me it was going to be a twenty five minute wait. After the long wait, watching staff standing about talking to each other, I finally was shown to a table and given a menu. It took forever for the waiter to get a drink order, and when it arrived one of the drinks wasnāt even the right one. How hard is it to actually get the drink you ordered? After waiting on the waiter to return to the table, finally got the right drink. The only person who seemed to be working was the busier, she kept our table stocked with chips and salsa. We had to wait what seemed like forever on the mediocre and over priced food to arrive. All three people I was with said their food was either over cooked, tough, overly greasy or dry. I got a plate full of oil and grease. It was flat out NOT GOOD!!! The restaurant claims its fine Mexican food, but really itās A JOKE!! For being as subpar was it was it was just way over priced!!! Everything was wrong, and the experience just kept getting worse. Even the waiter agreed that the food wasnāt good when confronted about it and almost seemed embarrassed to give us the bill. I will NEVER eat at Rio Mirage Cafe again, and it only took two hours and $70...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been a steady customer of the Rio Mirage in both Surprise and El Mirage locations for several years. I am familiar with some of the staff. Stephanie is the manger of both locations. She is very friendly, approachable and is always on top of making sure the restaurant customers needs are met. The servers staff that I am familiar with include Raudel, Reyna, and of course Gladis who always remembers to bring some Habanero (HOT) salsa with the regular salsa and chips. The lunch menu variety is great. For $10, you can have an excellent meal if you are there between 11:00AM and 2:00PM. I usually have the Flautas in chicken or beef for lunch. When I am really hungry, I order the Bombero dinner which is a tender marinated inside skirt steak in thick slices, sauteed and simmered with onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers in our special spices, topped with our very spicy hot green sauce. Served with rice, beans and fresh hot tortillas. Oh my, what a meal! I usually end up taking half the plate home as it is a lot of food! I have also tried the Chicken Fajitas plate which is good but my favorite plate is the Bombero dinner. I am a regular customer and can found there at least once a week or even more when...
