Such terrible experience that my bf & I had to leave the restaurant even before getting to eat. We were hungry & so excited to try out the new phở in town. After we sat down, there were 4 more parties being seated after us (temporarily labeling we were Table A, and they were Tables B, C, D & E). When the waitress approached Table B to take their orders before us, I was already not happy, but still nicely thought, "The restaurant was newly opened, so it's ok for servers to make mistakes." My bf & I patiently waited and waited, but no food was brought out, then I saw the food was brought out for Table B (ok, I let it slide). Minutes later, the food was brought out to Table C, and next, to Table D, too, that was when my patience started running low. I was thinking inside, "Don't tell me the food will be served at Table E even before us." So I waved the server who took down our order over and politely asked him, "How come 4 parties came after us, but 3 parties already had their orders brought out, yet we still haven't got ours?" The server looked all confused and responded, "Let me go check your order for you." Minutes later, finally the food was also served at Table E as predicted, which was really the last straw for me that I could no longer hold my patience (considering I'm a quite patient person). I understand that the place was newly opened (actually already past half a month, not like it's their first day) & prone to making mistakes to let 1 or even 2 tables (who came after us) to go pass us, BUT DEFINITELY NOT 4 TABLES, which is extremely & totally unacceptable!!! I was super fed up, so stood up & asked my bf to leave. I was nice enough not to yell at them, making a scene before leaving, but I feel that this feedback needs to be left for the upper management to be aware of this problem so that their employees will pay more attention to customer arrival orders (by having a sign-in list as well as writing numbers on their food order tickets) to serve customers in correct orders. Hopefully, this incident won't ever happen to anyone else again because really, no one deserves to receive such terrible customer service and negative experience as we did while we meant to come to your business to support you in the...
Read morePho 99 in El Monte has quickly won over a dedicated following with its genuine Vietnamese pho offerings and unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction. The genuine flavors of the high-quality broth and meats have earned acclaim for their unique profiles, elevating the classic Vietnamese noodle soup experience. Notably, Pho 99's signature sweet broth renders additional hoisin sauce unnecessary. Their skillfully brewed iced tea also garners special recognition for its harmonious taste.
While some patrons have voiced suggestions for more generous meat portions and consistency in ingredient quality, the consensus remains optimistic that Pho 99 has the potential to rise to the ranks of premier pho establishments once these initial concerns are addressed. The restaurant's launch day brought to light some areas for improvement, such as hotter pho, prompt service of accompaniments, and a more transparent broth.
Despite these points, my recent visit included a positive experience with the oxtail pho, though the meat was a tad tough, lacking the desired tenderness. Here's to hoping that Pho 99 will refine these aspects and continue to delight its patrons with even better offerings. I like their ambiance with simple but clean environment.
Having Pho 99 as a potential alternative to the perennially busy Golden Deli is an exciting prospect. It's likely that Pho 99 will consider expanding its menu to include a variety of Vietnamese dishes like spring rolls, egg rolls, and vermicelli salad. Offering these additional options could make it an even more appealing destination for those seeking a diverse range of authentic...
Read moreCame here for lunch because I saw it was a new pho place and it had good reviews. Their parking lot is quite big and we had no trouble getting a spot. When we inside though, it was already almost full but luckily there was one table left. However, the staff took a while to clean up the table and seat us with the menus.
I ordered the P11, the well done beef brisket and beef meatball (12.99). You can choose between thin or thick noodles. I got the thin ones. The food was served after like 10 minutes and they give you the bean sprouts and other veggies add to your soup. The noodles were a bit clumpy when I got them so I had to stir a bit. The soup was alright, not the best pho soup I had. As for the meat, the brisket was a bit tough to chew but not too bad. The meatball was alright as well since it has tendons inside. For the price, they were quite generous with the amount of noodles but the meat quality was a bit lacking. Guess you get what you pay for.
I have tasted better beef pho so probably won't be eating here again even if I am in the area. They do have great prices for pho though for those who want to eat a reasonably priced decent pho. If you want higher quality, there are...
