Just moved to El Monte from downtown Los Angeles and found this local gem right around the corner from my new digs. If you are looking for ambiance, you came to the wrong place (although it is rather charming in it own way). The service is fast and friendly, and the quality of the food is way more than you expected from a tiny Chinese restaurant located in a strip mall. Good Eats!
5 years later.... I suppose that everything changes with time, but sometimes not for better. Not much has changed at this restaurant except for the most important thing, the food. The quality and quantity has been slowly declining for the past few years, but now it has gotten to the point where the place no longer would get 4 stars. It's more like 2 stars and declining. Not quite a "don't go there" but it's getting close. One more visit will probably seal the deal, but I really don't see them...
Read moreA small Mom and Pop type of restaurant that has the best Chinese Food in the San Gabriel Valley and Los Angeles County. Beware, as this place only takes CASH! but, it is well worth it if you remember to bring your wallet. The place could use some sprucing up but, the service is very friendly and Happy to see you which makes you feel welcomed. We usually order to take it home so we will order when we get there. We ordered the chicken fried rice which has an excellent flavor and the best in town. Also, the Walnut Shrimp is out of this world and is hands down the best you will ever have. We also recommend the sweet & sour pork and the fried fish fillet (Tilapia) with black bean sauce which you may not find anywhere else. The egg rolls today were not as good as the rest of the food but, okay. Anyways, I highly recommend trying this place if you are in the neighborhood...
Read moreService was good but I cant recommend the food here. Ordered shrimp fried rice came in a large container with 97% rice and maybe 3% shrimp. Ordered the house special chow meing that came with 93% noodles and maybe 7% meat and it was tiny portions. Overly salty food and way to much oil used for the noodles. Could not bring myself to finish the food. Oh and to top it off there was a piece of metal shaving in the fried rice. Prices are decent but definitely not extraordinary. This place definitely needs to work on there food quality and quantities as it is lackluster in both. I give it two stars because service was good albeit a bit slow for the food to come out. Still the clerk was polite and friendly enough. Food wise cannot recommend...
