Owner Re: I'll see you, you won't see me till I'm gone. 😎🤡
Ordered food an hour in advance. Showed up to pick up my order and still had to wait an extra hour for it to be brought out. From what I could tell, there was maybe 1 person in the kitchen cooking each dish individually. There were several other waiting for their orders aswell and were all told the food JUST started cooking as we came in. The restaurant is hard to find as their sign's lettering mixes with the black baground it is printed on. The inside of the restaurant is dimly lit with a black ceiling, giving it a cave like feel. They're in dire need of a manager with restaurant experience that can help them keep a better pace for their orders. For a new restaurant, making mistakes on one order is acceptable and even expected. But not having 3+ orders ready is downright disrespectful to the clientele. If this restaurant wants to avoid the same fate the rest of the black-owned restaurants in the area have prior to this one, they'll do something about their timing. I'll give it another try some other day, and I will make sure to prder through GrubHub, as it seems those are the only orders they are able to complete in a timely manner. Quick edit: The food was amazing. I just wish i didn't have to make it an all-day trip, just to pick up food a mile...
Read moreHighly recommend; go and be impressed. This was my first time going and im not big on reviews but felt the need to give credit where credit is due. Upon entry you walk into a light airy newely renovated space that is balanced with music and the smell of some good cooking. And Good cooking it was, i had catfish it came with 2 sides deep fried oreos and a soda(meh). The soda was the only thing i wasnt impressed with, aesthetically, aroma-y, flavor-y, and the price. The price you will initially gawk because this is El Paso but upon receiving my food the price reflects the portions. Yes i had it for dinner and lunch today and coworkers commented on how good it smelled being chilled then reheated. I wish this was a flex, go find out yourself. Call me a liar as your eyes begin to buldge and your soul is snatched out of your body cause you didnt know food could be that good. Thank you, the young brown cook working last night. I only put 4 stars in regards to sevice because the young man was working solo and maybe couldve used and additional person he worked counter and the grill. alot of...
Read moreI spent $43 for what turned out to be one of the most disappointing meals I’ve had in a long time. I’m pretty pissed honestly. We received just two small chicken legs and waffles that were half-cooked and soggy—definitely not what you'd expect for that price.
The neck bones? So salty they were almost inedible. It was mostly fat and very little meat. The collard greens were lacking flavor and care, I had to add vinegar just to make it better. The only thing that was okay was the yams, even though it was mostly smashed. For the cost, I expected a hearty, well-prepared down south type meal, but this felt thrown together with zero attention to quality or balance.
I called multiple times to see if I could talk to someone, but it just goes straight to voicemail. I wanted to support this spot, but unfortunately, I won’t be coming back & definitely not recommending it to anyone. Way too expensive for food that tasted rushed (though it took 40 minutes to receive), overpriced & poorly made. Best bet is to pull up to Cracker Barrel...
