This is my second time dining here and trust me when I say there is something for everyone here. They have a different concept as far as tips, which I think is cool. I believe servers should earn a living wage and be tipped as well, as they are waiting on you. This place leaves the tip optional. What I can tell you is that this does not affect the service quality as I have always received amazing and attentive service here, like 5 star type of service.
The execution does not disappoint. I have been here at a busy time and at a slow time and each time food and drinks were delivered in a timely manner. Waiters are knowledgeable and very well trained in flavors and different ingredients. So donât hesitate to ask them for recommendations. I also love that they have a seasonal menu because you can always try something out of the ordinary. Although their everyday dishes are anything but ordinary.
Now to the food and drinks. They have all types of drinks, with a lot of them being an Asian fusion concept. I have tried the margarita and the sangria which were both great. The margarita was well balanced and the sangria was extremely refreshing and not overly sweet. When I say everything that I have had here is good, I mean everything. For appetizers the Roasted Tomato Crostini was both refreshing and tasty, the Potstickers are unique and delicious with great quality chorizo, the Bao Tacos are fluffy yet crispy and the pulled pork is soft and full of flavor, the Blackened Tuna Tostadas are to die for with perfectly seasoned and cooked tuna, delicious fried rice, chorizo, and wonton tostada, the Cajun wings are perfectly flavored, not overwhelming like Cajun can be and the batter is crispy in a perfect type of way.
For entrees the Green Chili Alfredo Pasta was divine, it was creamy and you could taste the smokiness of the chili in every bite, the chicken was very well seasoned and juicy. The Braised Short Rib was very tender melting apart from the bone and the gravy was an explosion of flavor, with the mashed potatoes leveling the flavor in an amazing manner. The Beef Braised Stroganoff was so flavorful, the meat melted in your mouth, the sauce was perfection, and the pasta was out of this world. Thai Chili Pasta was good, but for me it was a little too spicy, and I love spicy, just keep that in mind if it catches your eye, the chicken was again perfectly cooked and seasoned.
Overall this place is worth all the hype and recognition. You can tell every little detail counts here. Menu is planned and executed in a meticulous and flawless manner, with every dish being cooked to perfection. The kitchen staff and the wait staff are extremely well trained which just completes the dining experience. This is all around a 5 star restaurant and if you havenât been you have to try it. I live on the Far Eastside and trust me this place is...
Read moreMy wife and I have been wanting to try this restaurant after being recommended by a friend. It's a Mexican, Italian, Asian Fusion. I don't get any Asian vibe. It is very quaint, beautiful, intimate, more like a French, Italian steak house with palm trees. Took awhile to be seated, no one said be with you in a moment. The GM introduced himself, gave us the run down of tipping is not required, staff are paid better wages, etc. Different, but we'll go with it. The menu looked awesome. The variety was intense. We ordered Blackened Ahi Tuna on Tostadas, was EXCELLENT. My wife got her Old Fashion in minutes. My drink Bailey's and coffee I had to keep asking and took 20 minutes, no explanation or apology. We had already finished the appetizer. Waiter took our dinner order after the appetizer, which is to late and had to really wait for dinner to arrive. My wife's Ribeye and grilled veggies were perfect, an excellent plate. My Green Chile Chicken Cavatappi, the flavor of the sauce was excellent. The chicken? Well the 4 little pieces I got were, ehhh. Seemed to be microwaved. The Green Chile pasta is very spicy (Mexican style, GOT MILK), but really good. Music was contemporary but every now and then a hip hop song. Why? Drink glasses were never refilled unless asked for. Waiter had to find, we pushed our plates to the side and stacked. Its a small place. Finally he comes by and says "how is everything?". I just looked up and said, "Hi, nice to see your still working, a to go box and the check". He said, "would you like desert". My wife looked up and said sure about 20 minutes ago. He said would you like another drink? We both looked at each other with empty glasses???? just the check. We were there for 1hr and 29min. Really didn't plan or want to be there that long. Dinner and drinks was $124.00, of course no tip needed. The price we feel was excellent value for the appetizer, drinks, dinner with the flavors provided, but the service really killed the evening. Normally for food like this and great service we would have easily tipped $50+. But glad he makes a wage, because this service would have been a $1. I give the ratings: Food - 5+ stars Ambiance - 5 stars (get rid of the western steakhouse aprons and the HIP HOP music) Service needs ALOT of work - 2 stars. Really need to train the staff better. I have waited tables before in a high end restaurants, I know they can do better. I believe this restaurant will correct the service issues and my wife and I will return in 30 days hoping...
Read moreThe old location for Crave has turned into something new, different, and I dare say - better! We visited on a Sunday around 11:00 and while it wasn't busy at all, they started picking up as it got closer to noon. I think people are still realizing that something new is in the location - I know it took us a while. We ordered the breakfast sandwich and a matcha pancake on the side, just to try it.
All of the food was excellent! Perfectly cooked egg with the yolk breaking just as you took a bite through the soft ciabatta bread. Very well seasoned home-fries. And the matcha pancake was honestly one of the best pancakes I've ever had! Just added a lot to the texture of it while adding no grassy or sour taste at all.
If you've seen the menu prices and put a little off, don't be. The restaurant is trying something new (to our area) with a "no tipping needed" approach where the staff is paid a living wage and tipping is not expected, so you have to take that into account when thinking about the prices.
Was a little unsure about the Mexican/Korean/Italian fusion idea at first, but, the food and service speaks for itself. I implore you to...
