We've been there several times and there is always such an inconsistency to the scoop sizes. Tonight we had a large order with one kiddie size and the rest were 2 scoops. Only one of the two scoops was actually two scoops, while the others were the exact same amount as the kiddie one. When I said something to one of the teenage boys who handed me one of them and explained the situation he got an attitude. I began to watch him and when he put a scoop of ice cream in a cup he would dig half of the scoop back out. No wonder the 2 scoops were coming out as 1 scoop. Also, the woman who seemed to be in charge is the one who rang up our order and she acted like we were wasting her time because apparently we weren't ordering fast enough. This has happened with other employees as well during previous visits. There's also issues with the lack of line placement. It's just absolute chaos on the customer side of the counter every time. People are just spread out, even after they've ordered, blocking other people's ability to see what flavors they have and blocking the registers. You can't tell who's ordered and who's waiting to order. We really like the ice cream, but I'm tired of being treated with disdain and being ripped off. We've tried numerous times and things just aren't getting any better. I understand there's always hiccups when opening a new business. However, it's been months and no one there seems to care to fix...
Read moreI recently visited Scoop of Heaven Homemade Ice Cream, and it was an experience worth sharing! From the moment I walked in, I could see that the owners were genuinely invested in their customers. They made a point to shake hands and engage in friendly conversations, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The ice cream itself was nothing short of delightful. I tried the chocolate flavor, which was rich and flavorful but surprisingly light on the stomach. The monster cookie ice cream was another treat - creamy and well-balanced. It's clear that the ice cream is made in-house, giving it a fresh and unique taste.
The shop's atmosphere is open and airy, making it a pleasant place to enjoy a sweet treat. The staff were all incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the positive experience.
Since it's a fresh opening, things were a bit chaotic, but that's to be expected. A little patience goes a long way, but it's worth it for the delicious ice cream and good service.
Overall, Scoop of Heaven is a nice addition to Elgin, and I would recommend...
Read moreI have visited this establishment twice now and will not be back. Tonight I requested a strawberry banana milkshake and wanted peanut butter mixed in. I paid and then was told they don't have banana ice cream but had banana creme pie ice cream. For a place that makes homemade ice cream I'm confused about what is so hard about taking strawberry ice cream, banana, and mixing in peanut butter to make a milkshake. I can go to Sonic and Brusters and get this with no issue. Go back to three nights ago I ordered a snickers amd cookie dough rip current which came out with no issue. However, the butter pecan rip current was another issue. Was told that they could only do vanilla ice cream and add pecans. So again if there is butter pecan ice cream as well as a pecan caramel swirl. How am I only get vanilla ice cream and pecans? At this point it's not worth the headache of standing in line, paying for my order, then being told afterwards of all the inabilities to provide me with what I ordered. Great idea, great location, but the staff is...
