In Elizabeth City there isn't a vast selection of dining out sit down choices available. There are the big chains like Applebees and Ruby Tuesdays which didn't tickle my fancy at the time. Using Yelp and feeling a need for italian food I found Tony's. It is a locals place with a basic decor, comfortable and clean. The menu (see photos) offered a nice range of italian meals. My friend had a linguine with garlic oil and anchovies which he said was delicious. I had a build your own Calzone, adding ham and sausage. It was crispy outside and stuffed full with ricotta and mozzarella cheese along with the added meats. Dumping the side sauce on top I dug on in and enjoyed every bite. I was stuffed, I wasn't going to let the calzone beat me. I dug deep and marched on. Yes, I won, I think. Plate is clean and I am stuffed. Time to go home and put on some...
Read moreUpdated review. We ordered a stromboli and it was not good. Looked more like a pizza poorly folded in a partial half into some kinda of boat. 70% crust. The pizza was alright, the garlic bread though wasn't. Small sub roll that was undercooked as well with a ton of butter flavored oil spread and very little garlic. I ended up putting it under the broiler when I got home with more garlic powder and Italian seasoning. I wanted to order the fried ravioli, however when I inquired if it was in-house made the person working the counter said it was Sysco 🤢 Can't say I would be willing to try anything other offered on the menu other then getting a pizza from here. I was greeted with a friendly smile and a welcoming attitude. I would come back here...
