JP's Express Pizza — Restaurant in Elizabeth

I only gave this place one star because I had to… if it were to me I’d leave NO STARS. I just want to state that my mom is very particular about where she orders and when she seen this place she was in love their menu online. Everything looks so delicious that we decided to give it a try for dinner tonight. Nothing big, a lg pizza, a chicken parm sandwich. Fried shrimp platter (that’s advertised to come with fries and salad) and a grilled shrimp salad. Upon receiving the food. I immediately noticed that NONE of our food looked as advertised on their online menu. To begin with The fried shrimp platter looked like chicken tenders. When looking for the salad it was supposed to come with I noticed that the shrimp was laying on 3 pieces of lettuce and two tomatoes, guess that’s what they call a salad? Ok. And had the audacity to bring dressing with it. The shrimp salad was also very disappointing as the picture that it shows is a refreshing kind of salad with shrimp avocado cherry tomato’s mangos it seems. I got a regular green salad with cucumbers and black olives. But I was hungry so I tried to give the benefit of the doubt and hoped this was also good. But it didn’t look great. I also know that sometimes not all lettuce is bright green so I picked out a few pieces that look brown and had a bite and realized it had no crunch. So I looked through the entire salad to realize most of it (95%) of it were brown and mushy. The tomato’s were also limp and mushy, the only decent part were the shrimp they added. I was so frustrated that I didn’t want to try anything else. I gave the place a call and asked if the pictures on their online menu is theirs or is it an internet advertisement, the lady placed me on hold but I can hear her asking the same question in Spanish to someone else. To come back and say I’m new here I’m not sure or anyone is sure where those pictures are from. I proceeded to ask for a manager and she said that they wouldn’t be in until Monday. After seeing someone else review this place about something similar and for them to offer a 20% discount off their next order, I’m not looking for anything back from these people. I just want to let who ever is running that place know that it is a disservice to people that spend money to expect something to only receive the opposite. $75 that I could not enjoy! SMH. Let me first start by saying, I love the pizza here. I think it's some of the best pizza in the area. I love the cheese, dough and sauce and their pizza comes out thin and crispy, the way it should be. Today I am extremely disappointed in what i ordered. I work in the area and eat here semi frequently, and if i'm not eating pizza, I usually get a tuna sub, which i did today. The sub and fries was over $11 and when i got around to eating the sub, there was literally less than a tablespoon worth of tuna on each side. I'm sorry, but this is borderline ripoff, and i'm not sure if i'll be back for it again. I don't know what the point of being so skimpy on the main ingredient is, but it's really disappointing. I attached a pic of the last 1/4th of the sandwich with all the tuna from that piece scraped off to the side. I called and the girl at the counter was apologetic and offered to make it again, but i declined. Had a glowing review of this place from last year but had to change it tonight. Tried to order two pies for delivery and was told a half hour. Which I was fine with. Then over an hour, now an hour and a half almost as I’m writing this and I still haven’t had my food delivered. Calls to the incompetent staff member picking up told me that there’s a lot of deliveries, something that not only should’ve been reflected in the time, but also told UPFRONT as I could’ve went somewhere else or not ordered entirely. Mind you, this is for only TWO PIES. Manager of course isn’t present which helps to explain why things are running the way they are. Had to fight with them to cancel the order. Only the SECOND TIME in forty years that I’ve had to do that.
