Well, well, well…let me tell you about a very pleasant surprise. Jiggy Ray's Downtown Pizzeria in Elizabethton is under new ownership, and it is better than ever. We tried some of the appetizers. A few things to note, they don’t fry anything. The wings are crispy, baked and full of flavor. There are 6 sauces brought to you to add if you wish; but honestly, crispy plain is delicious. The garlic knots…just let this be my last meal. They are TO.DIE.FOR! Not the typical pizza dough remade to be a cheese knot. These are fluffy layers of flavor, garlicy, cheesy goodness. You can taste actual tomatoes in the sauce. You wouldn’t think that would be anything special, but believe me it is. It makes you wonder what the heck is that red stuff that tastes like too many spices and nothing like a tomato. How special can a pretzel bite with beer cheese be, right? Wrong!! Perfection!!! Open 7 days a week beginning at 11AM, no need to wonder where to go on a Sunday or Monday when everyone else is closed. They have a liquor license and beer on tap. The prices on the menu include sales tax so listen, it might look a little higher but the 10%-ish sales tax is included. What you see is what you pay. And for what you get, you won’t leave hungry and you won’t mind paying for it. In fact, you’ll be like ,“Take my money, please!” Anyway, to say I’m impressed is an understatement. Stop in and try...
Read moreIm not sure when new owners have taken over the business but... I have never had an experience like I did today at Jiggy Rays. I should have picked up on the red flags when we walked in and there was almost no one in the restaurant.. 1st RED FLAG Keep in mind I have never not one time seen the restaurant have 10 or less people in especially when an event is happening in downtown. 2nd RED FLAG We werent able to sit outside because the chairs were locked and someone had lost the keys.. 3rd RED FLAG The pizza buffet that is "new" we sat for 45 min and one pizza came out the entire time we were there. The few pans sat empty besides one pizza that had probably been out there for hours..also nothing is labled leaving you to guess luckily with only one pizza the entire time we didnt have to guess much LOL 4th RED FLAG The salad bar..as well as the pizza buffet it was barren and the lettuce was pretty much stalks not edible. No cucumbers other toppings etc..also sat empty 45 min+ 5th RED FLAG a creepy old man that wondered around the entire restaurant you could tell all staff knew him and knew he made everyone in the place uncomfortable..nothing was done. The man was there when we left. I will say the server and bartender were polite and very nice.. Luckily the price for the buffet is low but youre gonna leave and eat somewhere else because of the lack of food. We went to...
Read moreMy husband, myself, and another friend went last Saturday. We were bragging to our friend about the special flour used for the crust that was really good. We ordered a bucket of beers and some beer cheese. The beer cheese use to come with pretzel bites but not anymore!! Chips and a small container like maybe a 1/4 cup of cheese we could hardly taste any beer in it! $6 what a joke!! Then we ordered a large 5 topping pizza because the pizza on the buffet looked like it had been there awhile. We got our pizza and we started eating it and it needed to be cooked longer!! The middle was gooey dough!! We ordered another bucket of beer and took half the pizza home. Started with one waitress and ended with a different one. I guess the 1st one's shift was over. I went to pay and told her the pizza wasn't cooked all the way! She said she was sorry and gave me $10 off . The bill was still $60!!! What a rip-off!! Then I found out there was different owners!! It is very clear the new owners don't care about the quality of the great pizza and service that we used to enjoy there. Or the fact that it used to be rated highly and won the people's choice awardsfor years!! The old owner used to come around to the tables and ask how everything was! It's a shame of what it has tuned into now!! We...
